Apparently, the self-promoting "experts" didn't like him blocking their lauded 5-star DL Jordan Burch as well as he did in Orlando

Predictions for the nation's 10 best available recruits - By STEVE WILTFONG

quote:

4-STAR DE ALFRED COLLINS (NO. 64 OVERALL)

THE PICK: Texas

This is the best I’ve felt about Texas regarding Top247 defensive end Alfred Collins in a long time. The Longhorns legacy, who plays nearby at Bastrop (Texas) Cedar Creek sees a fit for himself in new defensive coordinator Chris Ash’s scheme and has always valued what being an alum of Texas would mean for him down the road. Oklahoma is still the biggest challenger and the dialogue remains strong there as well. The Sooners may have led at different points this fall. Collins is the No. 2 strong-side defensive end in the 247Sports Composite and No. 64 prospect overall. Alabama, Baylor and Texas A&M round out Collins top five.

quote:

4-STAR DT MCKINNLEY JACKSON (NO. 94 OVERALL)

THE PICK: Still torn between Alabama and Texas A&M

Alabama and Texas A&M appear to be in the best position for Top247 defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, who also includes Auburn and LSU in his final four. Jackson returned to Tuscaloosa two weekends ago after taking his official in the fall and the Aggies get the last official visit this coming weekend. And while the 247Sports Crystal Ball is trending towards the Tide, with the recent hire of new defensive line coach Freddie Roach another factor helping the SEC power, I’ve had a couple sources say they thought Texas A&M may actually lead. Jackson, out of George County High in Lucedale, Miss., is the No. 10 defensive tackle in America and No. 94 prospect overall.

With the easy ACC schedule and the talent their bringing in, Clemson is about to go on a FSU 90s type run.

Clemson will be even better because they don't have to play powerhouse Florida and Miami that FSU had to play.

Yeah and as long as Muschamp is at the helm South Carolina isnt going to cause them many problems. If Norvell flops at FSU I honestly don't see Clemson losing more than a couple of conference games over the next 7 or 8 years.

Dabo will be at Alabama within 3-4 years...Nick goes to 72 at best. Hopefully the same stupid azz people that selected Bill Curry aren't on the committee.

Dabo has it made. Does he really want to jump in the snake pit that is the SEC? I say heck no he doesn’t.

Dabo won't come to Bama for the same reason Bobby Bowden didn't come to Bama. The ACC offers too easy a pathway to championships/playoffs. Bama would have to do something crazy like offer him 16 million a year to even make him think seriously about it IMO. He has it made in that weak a$$ conference.

I think Bowden wanted to come to Bama, Bama just didn't offer the job to him.

Bowden was ready to take the job until he walked into the meeting with the Alabama brass and it was an interview. He felt he was blindsided. Chose to stay at Florida state.

I disagree about Dabo, but even if you are correct I still don't see them slowing down in the regular season unless they make a colossal mistake with the hire. As long as whoever follows him recruits decently they'll have the talent to sleepwalk through that conference every year. They could take a full step back and still be 2 steps ahead of the rest of the ACC.

Four years ago I thought Dabo was a shoe-in to replace Saban. But with what he has built at Clemson? I mean he's basically their Saban. I could see him sticking with that for as long as he coaches. He can win big there and he faces maybe half of the pressure and scrutiny that the coach at Alabama does.

I think we'll be looking towards other guys because Dabo will stay put. If it happened next off-season I'd think Cristobal would be a popular choice. We'll have to see if Pruitt takes another step forward but I am sure there are a lot of folks around the program that like him.

History suggests that though on paper Clemson should waltz into the playoffs every year and never lose a regular season game, it's likely that the lack of challenge they face during the year will eventually be their undoing. Humans and the programs they run get better when they have to, when they are not challenged they invariably begin to slip. We never have to worry about that in the SEC.

The only way we get Dabo is if it’s just his dream job. I really can’t see him leaving

When Bowden entered the third-floor conference room of Birmingham's Medical Towers building (which housed the UA System Chancellor's office) he was surprised to see more than a dozen people there. It was an interview. And, for more than an hour, the group questioned Bowden about his process and goals. Then, when the questions ended, Thomas told Bowden, "Thank you for coming, Bobby." There was no job offer.

"I left," Bowden later wrote. "And the the only thing I could think was, They didn't offer me the dadgum job!"

Bowden said Thomas called him a few hours after he returned to Tallahassee that night to tell him that Alabama had decided to hire Bill Curry." That came as a surprise to quite a few folks in Tuscaloosa where the perception on the Alabama side was that Bowden's hiring was a done deal.

We actually chose Curry instead of Bowden
