Guys chill out with the runningback speed talk. You all know the only controversy allowed here is whether Alabama needs big tall receivers.

Let's not forget we had one guy around here preaching that Mack Wilson was a first round lock. He never wanted to put any of the ILB problems on Mack. That was a nice debate for awhile

Simmons Road Show: Alabama prospects eye out-of-state options (Rivals)
quote:

EJ Williams

On the way to the Rivals 3 stripe camp presented by adidas in New Orleans, recruiting analyst Chad Simmons made stops at over a dozen high schools in Alabama. He saw some stars that are already known and he visited some could be in the next year or so that have caught his attention on film. Here are some notes from the road... (more)

Four-star DL breaks down return visit to Alabama (BamaOnLine-VIP)

4-star DE Zykeivous Walker 6-4/255 GA hudl

Walker visited for practice on Monday, his third trip to Bama, and he said he hopes to be back soon. He said he has no leaders and may take spring and summer official visits. “I want to be committed at least by the beginning of the football season.”

Rivals Camp Series New Orleans: Forecasting where elite prospects will land (segments)
quote:

HARVEY, LA -- Many of the top prospects in the region were in attendance for Sunday’s Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas at West Jefferson High, where they competed and discussed the latest in their recruitments. Here is an early look at where things stand and a prediction by Louisiana and Texas recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, who covered the event and broke down where they could be headed.

Ashaad Clayton (4-star RB) contemplated committing to LSU several months ago and admittedly, was all Tigers for the bulk of his junior year. After LSU signed Tyrion Davis and John Emery in December, Clayton cooled on the Tigers. He has visited Kansas and is planning trips to LSU, Georgia and Alabama, and said Texas A&M is recruiting him the hardest. Clayton wants to play sooner rather than later and is placing importance on relationships. It's difficult to imagine Ed Orgeron letting him leave the state.

Spiegelman's pick: LSU

McKinnley Jackson (5-star DT) -- At one time, Jackson was committed to LSU. The Tigers are still very much in this race, and some still feel they could be the team to beat. Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and others are still on Jackson's list, but the one those and LSU are likely chasing at this time is Alabama. There has been some real buzz around Alabama for quite some time and is does not appear to be dying down any. Alabama does not lost too many targets they zero in on, and they have been zeroed in on Jackson for almost two years.

Simmons' pick: Alabama

Jaquelin Roy (4-star DT) backed off his LSU pledge earlier this month and noted that every program that has extended him an offer has been in touch in hopes of luring him onto campus this spring. That group includes Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among several others. Orgeron made it a point to tell Roy he's still a priority for the Tigers and the Baton Rouge native has already returned to LSU's campus for a spring practice.

Spiegelman's pick: LSU

Sedrick Van Pran (4-star OG) is focused on winning a state championship first, then recruiting. He's making the rounds for junior days and spring practices, and LSU, Alabama and Georgia will all get an opportunity to host the elite offensive lineman. Georgia was the first SEC school to offer Van Pran, but LSU and Alabama also have his attention. The one X-factor: he wants to team up with Clayton, which gives the Tigers a unique edge.

Spiegelman's pick: LSU

Roy visiting an LSU practice isn't a big deal because the kid goes to school on LSU's campus. I think Roy will end up at either Bama or A&M. LSU is having trouble landing U High football players who are upper tier recruits.

Three of Ohio's best returning to SEC country (247Sports)
quote:

Paris Johnson Jr.

Three of Ohio’s best will see a couple more SEC programs this weekend.

Five-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., Top247 defensive lineman Darrion Henry and four-star outside linebacker Jaheim Thomas will check out Alabama on Friday before heading to LSU on Saturday.

They rank as the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 prospects respectively in the state of Ohio per the 247Sports Composite. Recent visits for the trio also included stops at Tennessee, Georgia and Georgia Tech last weekend.

The 6-foot-7 1/2, 295-pound Johnson is the country’s No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 4 prospect overall. Johnson visited Tuscaloosa in June prior to committing to Ohio State.

Henry ranks as the nation’s No. 3 strong-side defensive end and No. 41 prospect overall. Thomas is the country’s No. 21 outside linebacker.
