Rivals Rankings Week: Who could make a case for fifth star?
quote:
Drew Sanders
Initially, Sanders was a four-star athlete projected to play tight end at Oklahoma. This offseason, Sanders flipped his commitment from the Sooners to the Tide and is ticketed to be an edge-rusher in T-Town. This season, Sanders has been dominant on both sides of the ball for Denton Ryan. He’s instinctual and a natural playmaker wherever he is lined up on the field. He enters the All-America Game as a borderline five-star, but if he can showcase his ability to get after the quarterback and drop back in coverage on the big stage, he could snatch his fifth star. - Sam Spiegelman, Texas/Louisiana Recruiting Analyst

Phillip Webb
Webb is a very interesting recruit. He is very quiet and reserved when it comes to telling his story, and he kind of plays the game on the field that way as well. He shows up and makes plays, but he is not loud, he does not talk trash, he does not self-promote and at times he can be a little overlooked. Some may not realize just how good he is due to that. He is an Under Armour All-American, so many eyes will be on him late in December and into early January. He will not be overlooked there. If he does stand out and shows in this week what he has consistently shown over the past 12 months he could very well put himself in the mix to receive that fifth star on Rivals.com. - Chad Simmons, Southeast Recruiting Analyst

that's kind of sad.

When our commits get big bumps by Rivals, it looks like they compensate with big unjustified drops on some of our other commits:
247: 36 ... rivals: 69 Quan' Robinson (-38)
247: 89 ... rivals: 177 Thaiu Jones-Bell (-57)
247: 98 ... rivals: 283 Malachi Moore (-83)

REC doing work. Solid UA commits getting bumps. Kids headed to LSU and elsewhere going down in the rankings.

Then why did Rivals hammer Q-Rob, Jones-Bell and Moore?

Three Alabama coaches visited 4-star OT and Auburn commit LINK ]Javion Cohen on Monday. OL coach Kyle Flood arrived at Phenix City (Ala.) Central in the morning before Charles Kelly and Nick Saban came later in the afternoon.
“It was really good. We talked about the whole process around Coach Saban and how he runs his program and the many seminars and programs they use to help the athletes become better people and better players. That really opened my eyes towards it all.”
Cohen will be taking the final visit of his recruitment when he officially visits UA this weekend. The Tide has turned up the heat on the Tigers pledge in recent months, and he feels it. “To see all that unfold I definitely feel the pressure from Bama, and I appreciate it... I’ll announce my decision on Early Signing Day.”

Alabama coaches Karl Scott and Kyle Flood were at Houston (TX) North Shore HS on Tuesday to check in on Bama OL pledge LINK ]Damieon George, who joined the Tide’s 2020 class back in June and still feels confident in his decision.
“I’m 100% committed. They stuck with me throughout the recruiting process,” George said of why he’s firm with UA. To add to that, George likes Flood and sees it as a good opportunity to be coached by him. “I see how he got the O-line right. They’re really clicking together. Their technique is sound. I really like how he coaches.”
Despite the solidity of his commitment, George does not plan to sign on Dec. 18, like he originally intended. North Shore is on a playoff run that has kept him from being able to take official visits. “I want to take more visits,” he said, adding that his official visits, including Alabama, will be taken after the season.
While he’s not necessarily shutting his recruitment down to anyone, there’s only one other school George has interest in. “One other school I like is LSU. If I wasn’t going to Bama I’d go to LSU, because that's home.” George is originally from the Bayou State.
Asked what it would take to change his mind on Bama, George replied that he doesn’t know. He has kept close tabs on the Tide this year, though. “I’ve been watching. Offense has been good but defense held them up.” George returned to Bama in October for the Tennessee game as well. “It was amazing. I really liked all the lights.”

quote:

Pete Golding stopped in on Monday to see 4-star WR and LSU commit LINK ]Kayshon Boutte, who still hasn’t shut the door on the Tide. “It was good. He was just talking about who was leaving after this year, what it would be like for me at Bama, and what I could do there.”
“It plays a big factor,” Boutte says of what LSU has done on the field. “It was really an eye-opener for me." But despite the on-field success for the Tigers, Boutte hasn’t shut things down. He even says as of Tuesday it’s still “50/50” between Bama and LSU.
Boutte already used his official visit to UA, but with plans to not sign until February, he’s not ruling out another trip to the Capstone. “I might try to go up there in January.”

Christian Harris???
Why do people make vague comments with no source of any kind yet act like it’s true?

Bama assistant Karl Scott was in to see the top OT on Wednesday... The Tide is also evaluating Brockermeyer's brother, James, a 2021 four-star center...

I agree it’s ridiculous to downgrade Robinson,Bell and Moore like that.
Moore and Robinson had great years before Robinson got hurt.
Not sure about Bells season but he is our most talented WR commit.

Why would Christian Harris be in the portal? He is a starter at one of the top programs in America.

And his home town isn’t THAT far away that he would move back closer for personal reasons.

I just checked the portal. He’s not listed. So not sure what the hell the poster is talking about.
