I'm sure that I'm in the minority, but I believe that he'd be a better tight end

Drew Sanders would be great at TE, but he'll also be great at OLB and really wants to play defense. Bama recruiting him for defense is a huge reason he flipped. But, I think Bama might also do some "wrinkles" using him on offense occasionally. In HS he's playing defense and also scoring TDs receiving, running, and passing. An extremely talented, versatile and smart player. Hopefully, he's a good punter too.

LINK ]BREAKING: Alabama lands Georgia DL Jamil Burroughs (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Commitment No. 23 is now in for the Crimson Tide’s 2020 class. Four-star defensive tackle LINK ]Jamil Burroughs gave his pledge to Alabama on Wednesday afternoon via Twitter.

The one-time Georgia verbal from Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern held offers from the Bulldogs, Clemson, Florida, and LSU, among a number of other Power Five programs.

Burroughs backed off his pledge to UGA last month, but if you followed along this year it was clear Bama had been trending for quite some time prior to his de-commitment. The 6-foot-2, 323-pounder visited Tuscaloosa five times in 2019, four trips of which happened while Burroughs was committed to the Dawgs.

Back in the spring, Burroughs made it clear that he was still considering the Tide following an unofficial visit for A-Day. “They definitely had a lot to offer,” Burroughs told BamaOnLine at the time. “Sitting down with coach (Nick) Saban was a good talk like always. Alabama is absolutely an option down the road.”

Fast-forward down the road, the Tide as an option became more and more the Tide as a likely landing spot throughout the summer, especially after having Burroughs on campus for both Champions Cookouts, events reserved for priority targets. “It was a good experience,” Burroughs said of his summer visits. “I really got to know all the players and all the coaches, really started to connect with them.”

Prior to the beginning of his senior season Burroughs spoke again about the interest in UA. “They’re big on my major, business and stuff, and education first,” he said. “They really need me, you know what I’m saying? And they can develop me as a player and a person. One thing about it, they put football last until that time comes. They put education first.”

A few weeks later, the Georgia native re-opened his recruitment and the rest is history. Burroughs is recruited by wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins and defensive line coach Brian Baker. He’s the second UA commitment from the Indians program, joining four-star wide receiver Javon Baker.

This season Burroughs has recorded four sacks, helping McEachern to an undefeated record. He is rated the No. 31 defensive tackle and the No. 330 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Burroughs is yet another big pledge Alabama holds along the defensive line. The others include: Jah-Marien Latham, Jayson Jones, and Timothy Smith. UA also holds commitments from edge rushers like Will Anderson and Chris Braswell. This, one class removed from Alabama signing arguably the best defensive line haul of all-time on paper.

The Tide's 23 commitments make up the No. 2 class in the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, with a score of 300.11. UA is closing in on Clemson, which currently resides atop the standings with 303.94 points.

Is he worth the pickup? 330 ranked player? Wasn't he told to look elsewhere by Georgia?

I trust Saban. I don’t think he would have given him the Green light to commit this late in the process if he wasn’t any good.

Roll Tide Jamil!

Has anyone watched tape on Javon Baker? He has incredible hands. Watch this LINK during the five star challenge starting at 1:50, especially the catch with Major Burns assaulting him. I also thought his route running was impressive. He looked good against Brookwood as well. He may not have top end speed but everything else is there.

ETA: Five Star Challenge Eval

Farrell definitely made sure to say Baker was looking around

Sean stop hating

If he lasts past September of next year he's already doing better than one of our recent 5th best player in the country.

I get it rankings don't mean anything.. but sometimes they do. Why didn't UGA want him? He's gained some bad weight? The weight can be fixed but I was hoping for a guy that can come I was hoping for that instant impact guy! Nothing wrong with that

Come on that's not fair! But his loss hurts us on the D line. Imagine if he wasn't a head case
