Really love having Sal Sunseri back, he's the perfect assistant almost.

*Respected Position Coach
*NFL Experience
*Good Recruiter

Kinda sucks knowing the Saban/Sunseri marriage always ends in divorce because neither side backs down

LINK ]Alabama trending in Crystal Ball for four-star DE Will Anderson (247Sports | June 10)

quote:

The Alabama Crimson Tide are picking up steam with four-star class of 2020 defensive end prospect, LINK ]Will Anderson.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Anderson is the No. 5 weak-side defensive end and the No. 10 player in the state of Georgia in the 2020 signing class. The 6-foot-3 and 233-pound defensive end is a product of Hampton Ga. and plays for Dutchtown High School. With offers from the likes of Alabama, LSU, and Auburn, Anderson has his pick of where he’d like to play college football.

Among those elite programs, Alabama has emerged as the favorite to land Anderson. Over the last five days, Anderson has picked up seven predictions on his 247Sports Crystal Ball. All seven of the submissions have been in favor of the Tide. That includes a prediction from 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

According to BamaOnline, Anderson is fresh off a visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend. Hank South reports that Anderson’s latest visit only “strengthened” Alabama’s standing with the four-star defensive end.

Note: The CB picks for Bama also include John Garcia, Hank South and Tim Watts.

Back in March, Anderson attended the Under Armour All-America camp in Atlanta. After the event, 247Sports recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr. named Anderson one of the top five defensive players at the camp because of Anderson’s ability to win in the trenches with both quickness and power.

“A top 100 overall prospect on 247Sports, the Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown edge talent showed why with a great get-off and some advanced moves to get to the passer,” Garcia wrote. “He can win with pure acceleration but also showed off his quickness in setting up blockers with inside jabs and elite bend. Anderson even worked inside some and saw conventional success as a power player with hand technique and leverage. Auburn, Florida and Tennessee have hosted the four-star this month.”

In his evaluation of Anderson, 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons notes that Anderson’s smaller size is a concern but that the elite defensive end often makes up for it with his production.

“Lighter, undersized defensive end built more in the mold of a linebacker,” Simmons wrote in his evaluation. “Compensates for size with rare pass-rush instincts and traits. Shows basketball open court quickness in space as a pass rusher. Can extend his arms and control offensive linemen. Plays bigger than his size. Has a nasty inside rip move. Eats up grass quickly in space. Shows first-step quickness you want out of an undersized pass rusher. Will need to show the ability to anchor against runs at him. Has some frame limitations. Has some bust potential due to size but also has upside to be an early round draft pick due to pass rush traits.”

Alabama is known for having NFL-caliber talent on the defensive line, and Anderson would keep up that reputation.

LINK ]Five-star target locks in Alabama OV (BamaOnLine)

quote:

Five-star athlete LINK ]Arik Gilbert will take his first official visit to Alabama this upcoming weekend, he announced on Twitter.

The Marietta (Ga.) product is being recruited as a tight end by the Crimson Tide.

Earlier this spring at The Opening Regional in Atlanta, Gilbert told BamaOnLine that the only official visit he knew of that he'd take thus far was to Alabama.

“Just the way that they prepare their guys,” Gilbert said of what stands out about the program earlier this year. “All their programs there are pretty amazing.”

The five-star prospect was on campus in Tuscaloosa earlier this offseason. He says tight ends coach Jeff Banks has compared him to a former Tide great.

“You know how they had Irv Smith? He’s saying our games are similar, basically,” Gilbert said of Banks’ message. “So I would fit into their system perfectly.”

The Peach State product is also a fan of new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

“Definitely with him coming from the NFL, his knowledge of the game is elevated,” Gilbert said of Sarkisian. “We got a chance to talk and he showed me some film from the Falcons. I really liked what I saw from them using the tight ends.”

Alabama has one tight end committed in 2020 in three-star Ohio native Caden Clark. But it's been clear UA hopes to sign two.

Gilbert has drawn NFL comparisons to former Tide star O.J. Howard.

"Long-limbed, muscular, v-shaped athlete with a frame that can continue to add lean mass naturally. Rare body. Plays both sides of the ball for his high school and brings consistent effort in each role. Brings mismatch ability to the tight end position with both size and athleticism. Can play attached or split out as a wide receiver. Adequate hands and ball skills. Has verified combine athleticism. Likely has more upside as a defensive end where he is raw but has length and speed to overwhelm offensive tackles and chase down ball-carriers. Not refined in any one area. First off the bus type of athlete that is just better than everyone at this level but will need to refine technique on the next level on either side of the ball. Power five impact player on either side of the ball with first-round NFL Draft upside." (via 247Sports National Director of Scouting Barton Simmons)

At 6-foot-5.5, 245 pounds, Gilbert is rated the No. 2 athlete and the No. 12 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Tide is also after the No. 1 athlete in the country, Darnell Washington, also recruiting the Las Vegas, Nev. standout at tight end.

For now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball favors Georgia for Gilbert. Clemson, LSU and Tennessee are other programs in the mix.

Definitely need one of the two. Gilbert or Washington. Happy with either, though I think Gilbert might be the better athlete,Washington has great size.

I wouldn't mind getting Webb. He would be great in the Christian Miller role.

As injury prone as that position has been, I'll say about 20
