I can confirm Connor Vanover was there all weekend. He had lunch with Avery at Ramma Jamma's on Saturday. Our high school basketball team was there for team camp eating lunch. Avery treated them almost as well as he did the recruit.

One more thing: Shannon Hale was in a boot, said he had a surgery but I didn't ask what he had done. I didn't remember him being hurt, so was news to me.

Vanover's brother is in the band at Bama so he has a family connection here. His mom played basketball at Arkansas so I imagine both of those family leans will play a big role in his recruitment. He's slow footed as you'd imagine from a 7 footer, but he's got legitimate skill and would be worth a scholarship.

As for Hale, I think it's the same recurring foot problem he's had his whole time at Bama.

I sure wish he'd go ahead and commit early. I'd feel much better about things.

Was talking a trainer in the Huntsville area and I think he probably ends up at Kentucky if we can't land top talent before he decides. He thinks a lot of himself and believes the hype and there's nothing wrong with that but he left his AAU team because they were winning and word is he is going prep route this year which makes no sense IMO because with Butler and Johnson combining schools they should be unstoppable.

Are you talking about Sexton, or Petty?

Has to be Petty he's referring to.

Didn't even believe we were in the running for Petty. Hoping we have Reese, Herb Jones, and Sexton locked up.

Were definitely in the running for Petty. Im hoping KY get other players higher on their board so that can push Petty our way.

-- Garza arrived at Alabama late Sunday night along with his family. The Washington (D.C.) Maret School product stayed on campus through Tuesday. Of the trip, Garza told BamaOnLine that “It went great!!” via text message. BOL will have a more in-depth interview with the 6-foot-10 prospect later on when he gets home and is able to speak on it.
Garza’s father, Frank, followed up by telling BOL the visit was “stupendous.” Garza’s high school is a prestigious academic institution, something that was extremely important for he and his family when looking at schools. Garza’s father emphasized that they were touched by the Tide’s authenticity and their commitment to their belief that its students first, then athletics. Garza is expected to make a decision very soon, possibly within the next week or so. The East Coast product is rated the No. 15 center and the No. 127 overall player, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Louisville is currently the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite.

-- 2017 four-star power forward Rayshaun Hammonds out of Norcross (Ga.) tells BOL he has been in frequent contact with the Alabama staff in regards to setting up a visit. Rated the No. 12 power forward and No. 49 overall player, Hammonds’ Crystal Ball reads 50-50 between Alabama and Georgia.

Well it sounds like we still have a chance with Garza. Best part is hearing Hammonds is trying to visit. Thanks for the update Bryant!

As far as Basketball goes, right now he thinks we end up with Sexton, Herb Jones, and Garrison Brooks.

This is from a chat on BOL. No Alex Reese!

Interesting. Reese has a NBA skill set and is not a guy we can let get away.
