My parents and I left the game about 2 minutes after they put Lawson in the game. One of the worst performances I've ever seen (and I was at our worst loss in Coleman).

At this point, you can't blame youth.

There's only 3, or a combination of, scenarios that I can imagine.
A) They are poorly coached
B) They have quit
C) They aren't listening to the coaching

Firing a coach for not making the tournament with a bunch of underclassmen won't be a good look to any candidate. You also risk having guys transfer out. The younger you are the easier it is to transfer unless you've graduated.

It's not as bad as having a lame duck coach and wasting a year. Guys transfer all the time anyways. You can't be held hostage because of that. If Avery has lost the team, there is a good chance we have a lot of transfers anyway.

What if the only way to keep kids is to fire Avery? It works both ways

One of the "Wired" segments tonight was Avery asking Ingram why he didn't do as he was taught.

Agree.

My uneducated eyes shows me a team with "bad chemistry", or even potentially a toxic environment. No way these guys are this bad at basketball. Something else is going on.

It's pretty incredible how much air they sucked out of the program in the last 7 days. Astonishing, really.

Avery was fired from the Mavs after he lost 2 years in a row in the first round of the playoffs as a heavy favorites to advance. He got a short stint with the Brooklyn Nets before he was fired again. That was a little over 5 years ago. He was never given another shot in the NBA as a coach. A league that recycles coaches like nobody's business over and over despite record, saw enough of Avery Johnson after 2 stops to decide that he wasn't a good coach. He lasted 3 years with the Spurs and a little over 2 years with the Nets and that was all. Why do we need more than 3 years to reach the same conclusion 2 pro teams did? This guy sucks.

FINAL: Florida 73, @Alabamambb 52. Worst home loss since a 70-48 loss to Kentucky in January 2015. Alabama now 17-13, 8-9 SEC. First four-game losing streak since 2014.

Said 2 or 3 weeks ago we could lose out with this schedule we had left , some scoffed at the notion. This is one time I wished I was wrong . I have a serious case of the sads

He was fired from the Mavs and he lost in the Finals and then the 1st round, then the 3rd year they were a 4 seed and lost in the 1st round.

But yea he sucks.

Yeah his 07 collapse to the Warriors as a 66-17 one seed is one of the biggest in NBA history. I also believe the Mavericks lost the Finals 4-2 in 2006 after being up 2-1.

I'm telling you guys, all we need is to find a stretch 4 from Europe who can score 25+ per game and knock down an open shot from any place on the court. Get one of those and #frickleup

Got beat at UK and even the AU loss could be given a bit of pass. Last two games? Something more that talent missing it seems.

It's pretty unbelievable to follow up the drubbing of Tennessee and a hard fought loss at Rupp with ........this.

The road was Rocky but it was understandable until the 2nd half of Auburn. After that, they stopped being up and down and started something else entirely.

I never heard why the Nets fired him. Sounds similar to what we’re watching:

But just 24 days after he was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for November, Johnson was fired by the Brooklyn Nets. Assistant P.J. Carlisemo was named interim head coach, and will retain the rest of Johnson's staff.

A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

"I just got a sense, as I told Avery this morning, that he just wasn't reaching them anymore," general manager Billy King said at a news conference Thursday afternoon, adding that ownership had final say in the decision.

I didn't even think we could screw the season up this bad. I've been watching Bama for over 30 years. I'm stupid
