Stewart is our one and only safety commitment, and he has the skill to play CB. If we pass on a top 150 player at WR to appease the desires of a kid that has never played wideout exclusively, then we might as well give up.
Stewart played QB for his high school because he was their best option. He's playing defense in the MS/AL game because he's best suited on that side of the ball.
If we don't get Conner, who is an extreme longshot, Stewart is the only player we have committed that can play safety. I don't think he has anything to do with Foster or Massington.

They aren't appeasing him, WR is the only position Bama has told him when they specify a position. They have told him WR and slot WR if they don't refer to him as an Athlete. He participates at every camp at WR, even the ones in Tuscaloosa. You mention he hasn't played Wideout exclusively, yet call him a specific commitment of a position he hasn't played extensively either. He plays WR and DB, but none to the extent of he does QB.

Or the fact if everyone played WR, there would be no DBs. If everyone got their choice, there would be 4-5 DBs on the Alabama defense.

Vonn Bell is a strong possibility. He's being recruited as more of a true athlete than Stewart is though, he has been talked to about S, CB, STAR, and WR.
ETA: I do not exclude the possibility of Stewart playing DB, but it doesn't seem like a move that will happen within the immediate seasons. He is Bama's only slot WR type currently committed, where as the rest of them are outside types. Now dependent on Stewart's 1st year and what Bama brings in in '14, it could cause a change of position. He is open to a switch, but he also follows it up with a strong urge to play offense because he gets to choose.

The more I watch on Robert Foster the more I like him. Tunsil is still numero uno though

I'd love a WR class of:
Stewart(Slot)
Falkins(Possession)
Massington(deep threat)
Foster(Complete)
Though I wouldn't turn down an OL class of Tunsil, Hill, Brown, Bozeman, and Dawson either

haha. I'm not as big on the WR position because of our current players. One or two good ones would sit fine with me. Foster being my favorite.
I've always valued the Oline position the most and the possibility of Tunsil makes me happy.

I think one of the things that doesn't have me nervous about Tunsil's decision is Bama has a potential shot to flip Austin Golson and Bama has several OTs high on them in '14.
I would definitely not turn down Tunsil, but it seems Bama has found it easier to get themselves into contention for top OTs more than top WRs consistently. Though it looks like Bama is turning the corner regarding elite WRs, as more are starting to pay more attention to the passcatchers at the Capstone.

Agreed. Amari Cooper has been something else his first year.

I forgot who it was. But one high ranked WR recruit tweeted something about how Amari Cooper was the reason he wanted to play WR
Cooper has been a great selling point to future stud WRs

You take that with a TE Class of OJ Howard (H-Back) & Josh McNeil (TE)
A RB Class of Derrick Henry (Jumbo), Tyren Jones (APB), and Altee Tenpenny (Tailback)
Then you have to be talking about a historic offensive haul with 5-stars at each grouping, with one outlier...

I think that was Marquez White. Said something like Cooper is the reason he would rather play WR instead of CB

Well during the season, Marquez White tweeted that Coop was the reason he wanted to play WR. Massington also mentioned in an interview that our handling of Cooper only intensified his interest in Bama.

Kirby Smart doing work:

quote:
Reliable sources tell BamaOnLine that Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart spent much of the day on Thursday with Loganville, Georgia (Grayson) defensive end Robert Nkemdiche.
quote:
The 6-foot-4, 285 pound Nkemdiche committed to Clemson earlier this summer and opened back up his recruitment during the season. For the past two months, Nkemdiche has been widely considered a heavy favorite to join his brother (Denzel) at Ole Miss.
quote:
Sources tell BOL that Nkemdiche came away highly impressed with his time with Smart on Thursday and the Tide is back in the mix for nation's No. 1 ranked prospect.

Speaking of Austin Golson, he is taking an official visit to Alabama on January 11th.

That would be quite an offense. I assume the outlier is QB. That is one position Saban hasn't got a 5 star in. Maybe with the spotlight AJ got earlier in the year this will help. I would have loved to see Max Browne in crimson, but Cooper will do just fine.

Apparently there is a rumor going around about a certain player getting an offer that will make Bucc's head explode
