And the question regarding alabama's recruiting class... "How can Alabama repeat as the #1 Recruiting class?"
I have no words for that.

And who finished second?

quote:
Many believed Walker's decision came down to Alabama and Florida, but in the end, it was Auburn, the Tide's in-state rival, that finished a close second.
"I guess it came down to the fact I visited Alabama more than I visited Auburn," Walker said.

Congrats Bama on the Walker commitment. Really good player IMO.

Hmm. I hope this was just talk to answer the question. Auburn already has a sick D line class. Glad to get the kid though.

Okay then... who will be Alabama's 1st 2014 commit? Marlon? Bo?

He's going to take visits, but IMO he will stick with Bama because you guys are the only team recruiting him at a hybrid position.

Hell maybe neither. Bo likes UGA right now and Marlon says he is going to wait. Im sure both will commit later but im guessing Saban will find another major out of state guy to spear head things.
I really wish it was Marlon being the leader but im not going to hate on the kid if he wants to have some fun first.

I've seen Bo name UGA his leader a couple times and i have been trying really hard to not get my hopes up. Is his interest legit or is he just trying to throw everyone off?

when was the last time auburn played an end that wasnt around 250? walker could get as high as 300 depending on how he develops. upshaw was an effective jack at around 280 last year (actually if you check out his stats from last year he could also have been considered perhaps the top DE in the league, tackles for loss and sacks), and walker could still be an end at around 300 in our D. honestly, i cant figure out why more athletic DTs arent trying to come play DE and be the next Marcel Dareus. I think having to play 2 gap scares alot of guys.

Yea I dont see him playing DE in a 4-3 unless he wants to try and stay at that same weight which would be impossible.

quote:I couldn't tell you (mainly because I don't know), but Florida played Carlos Dunlap at defensive end a couple years back. He was around 6'5-6'6 and 290 pounds. He was a freak athlete for his size, which is pretty rare. He was even more-so a freak than Nick Fairley, and Fairley played at Auburn around 295-300. If DeMarcus Walker could keep up his athleticism with all the weight/muscle he gained in a college weight program, I'd say he could possibly stay at defensive end. You'd also have to consider what we had at defensive end, because I'm all about getting the best players on the field. If we had two badass defensive ends that were slightly better than him, I'd love to have him at defensive tackle. He'd be a mismatch.

quote:I thought he played around 270? Either way, Walker is already at 273 or whatever, and he had to lose weight to get there. I know some JACK linebackers are big (Mario Williams while he played for the Houston Texans), but it's rare. Not saying he couldn't do it, I just don't see it happening. I also think Alabama has players better suited for the JACK position. Jonathan Allen would be pretty beastly there.

quote:I agree. They probably view it as more of a "space eating" position.

quote:You could very well be right, I'm not really sure. I read 273 in either a commitment article, or I saw it on ESPN when he announced. We all know how credible ESPN is, so it's hard to take anything they say to heart.

Derrick Henry insists him and Tunsil will play together. I'll believe it when I see it.
