Down 5-1 now. This team is a train wreck.

Stick a fork in the team. They are mirroring their Coach. Absolutely no fire. Alexi is done. No run support does that to pitchers. The hell of it is, there is not an ace on this team for next year. Might have something to do with Van Prothro. Pitching has taking a huge step backwards. Time to clean house.

We’ve now seen programs that were annual cellar dwellers catch Alabama softball, and arguably surpass. Not to mention the top programs in the SEC we were already competing with. All because Murphy has refused to adapt.

The program is on cruise control and Murphy is just collecting checks.

Does anyone watch "Rally Cap"? The SEC Newtork program focusing on SEC softball and baseball. One of their talking heads is Bama alum Kayla Braud. Has she had any words for the ditch the team is seemingly stuck in?

I don't want to be accused of wanting to fire a coach prematurely and I'm not advocating that just yet. Murph has earned the right to turn the ship around, but my question to y'all is how long do we wait? If we give Murph too long of a leash, I fear this turning into a another Bama women's basketball situation where a similar coach was given the leeway to take a program from NCAA Sweet Sixteen to near the SEC cellar in 5 short years. Then his successors took the broken pieces of the program and ground them into fine powder. Kristy Curry's first year of the reconstruction, the Tide finished dead last in the league. She's doing a good job. But it's been almost 2 decades since we made The Dance, all because we allowed a coach to linger too long and then completely botched the replacement times 2.

I have confidence in Byrne to not allow the former and to not repeat the latter, but shite happens sometimes despite the best of intentions. So my question to you is this: if 2019 looks like 2018, do we tell Murphy to hit the bricks? Do we allow him 2020 with the understanding that improvement is required? What is your timeline?

Me personally, after watching slow, but perceptible erosion in the program for the last 2-3 seasons, then seeing them struggle this year combined with the obvious lack of conditioning (investment?) in the team by some including Murphy himself (it appears at least), if I am Byrne, we have a meeting after the season. I would state that the decline is noticeable to both fans and the administration and is not acceptable. The SEC has become the deepest, toughest league in America and to allow the program to slide into mediocrity will be difficult to recover from and will not be permitted. I would commend him for his past success and the contribution he has made in establishing Alabama as a premiere program but remind him that status was in jeopardy.

I get the feeling Murphy thinks it is his softball program, not the U of A's since he built it to what it is, but it's not. It's time to go back to work or go fishing. It's his choice. But the time is now. I would tell him, he's officially on notice that the clock is ticking, and he'd better turn it around before time runs out.

Maybe I do have on crimson colored sunglasses. We are awful.. And Murphy needs to get off his arse or we won't even be hosting a regional.

This is the truth

I know you more than likely won't agree with me, but Murphy has gotten too comfortable and satisfied. I'm not saying we need a new coach, but we need a coach that's willing to change with the times and evolve. Murphy can be that coach if he still has the fire to do it. I'm really questioning that. It's frustrating. It feels like LSU and Les Miles

The former players love him and that's really going to be a pain in Byrne's arse if/when he has to make a change. Unless Murphy decides to quit because he needs a break or something.

Let this sink in a bit. Alabama is 9th in the SEC softball standings. Maybe Murphy thinks nobody will notice.

that's happened before. Usually because we open with one or two real tough opponents to start the slate. We've never been this bad midway in the conference schedule since Haack was in charge.

Exactly, the last time we were middle of the table two series in, we started away at Tennessee and UF (understandable) a few years back and I think we finished that year as SEC runner up. Losing series to the likes of Arkansas wasn't even a concern back then. ugh.

It just sucks. At least Gymnastics has the excuse of breaking in a first time head coach, and it looks like she's finding her footing in year 3. It's almost heartbreaking to see the top of the line race car Murphy built himself running into the wall with him still in it.

Cancel the damn parade. Southern Miss is 16 and 30. This team sucks and if that is our ace next year we are in deep crap.
