quote:freshman dline usually redshirt to get physically ready. if reports are true, frazier may already be among the strongest players on the team. we could use some good depth at that position
Frazier is gonna be a beast. Makes you wonder if he'll redshirt.

quote:im not so sure stout was all that great. he had almost unprecedented talent on the online, mostly guys that were recruited prior to him arriving. i think i could field an impressive oline as the oline coach with warmack, fluker, jones, steen, and koundjio (with warmack next to him). i think cristobal kinda had a bare cupboard on arrival. Even if he doesnt turn out to be as good coaching them up, he sure is bringing in a lot of elite guys for the next oline coach
Sure wish Stout was still around

Stoutland was a below average recruiter at best. That's one reason we've had to load at OL in the two classes since he's been gone.

I don't think he did in the last class he had any impact on.

Well all I know is that the o-line went to shite as soon as he left and I think there was plenty of talent left on the o-line they just couldn't get it together. One thing that did hurt us is not having big Mike Williams anymore. He was basically an extra o-lineman, I was hoping Brandon Greene could fill that role but oh well

Not sure where else to put this, but Cowherd predicted UT would upset us this year. Cowherd gonna Cowherd.

I'd say it's a trap game. They could play us tough any given year, and they have some WRs that could take advantage of a young secondary if the D doesn't show up.
But, no way the Viles are stopping this train.
Bama rolls 38-3

They don't return a single starter on their offensive or defensive line. This could be uglier than Arky has been the last two years

What we saw
-- The biggest absence of note was on the defensive line. End A'Shawn Robinson was not spotted with the group as they went through drills in the morning practice. There's no word on the reason right now. For what it's worth, defensive linemen Darren Lake and Dee Liner didn't come out until the final few minutes of the viewing period Tuesday. Robinson is the top returning defensive linemen in a group that's thinned out in practice because of suspensions. End Jarran Reed and nose tackle Brandon Ivory have not been at practice at any point in August after both started the A-Day Game in April.
-- Also of note: Ryan Anderson moved back to outside linebacker after spending the first several days of camp with the middle linebackers.
-- Linebacker Trey DePriest worked again in the crimson jersey after injuring his knee on Saturday. He was practicing in the second group behind Reggie Ragland and Reuben Foster.
-- Dakota Ball was with the tight ends again for both periods of media viewing. He went over to the defensive line — where he played before this year — in Monday's practice.
-- Each of the quarterbacks had nice looking throws on deep, double move patterns with the receivers. All five hit the target on stride with tight spirals in the early-practice drill.
-- Strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran was all fired up going from group to group this morning. Two-a-days are his thing.
-- Robert Witt, chancellor of the University of Alabama system, came out to watch the morning practice.
What comes next
A few players will meet with reporters after the first practice. They'll be back out there at 7:30 p.m. for the second practice.

definitely. i sure hope he's ok. but dont yall think if he was really hurt they would throw Ball back on the defensive side just to provide depth at NT?

Allen was rolling with the 1s, but Pettway recently took his spot. Both will play a lot either way. Allen is gonna have a good year for us. Really good athlete at his size.
Miller is definitely needing a RS, but even he said that. We list him 6'4" 215lbs, and he looks really slim. But one day he and Evans coming off the edge together will drive QBs/OL/OCs crazy.
Even more probably the inability to figure out if they're rushing or dropping, because both quite frankly have elite potential in both.
