Jacksonville Jaguars ex-employee, Amit Patel, pleaded guilty to stealing the money through a system the team used for business-related expenses. According to ESPN, Patel lost around $20 million from daily fantasy contests and sports bets on FanDuel...
quote:

As a result, the Jaguars are seeking the $20 million from the sportsbook after Patel transferred money directly to it from a team credit card.

The Jaguars may want the money back from FanDuel, but as the sportsbook is not responsible for the misappropriation of team funds, it could be a request that FanDuel isn't willing to accommodate.

"The way they see it ... we got this money fair and clear. It's not our problem that we have to forfeit it back to you," one source said, noting that they would be "gobsmacked" if FanDuel returned the money.

Gambling addiction? No. He thought he'd never see consequences. It's an excuse they all use for lack of self-discipline. An excuse of convenience.

I have a "driving in the left lane" addiction. I struggle with it. There are consequences.

$20M loss is chump change compared to the $100's of millions teams throw away at players that don't deliver squat.

Dak has stolen a lot more than that from Dallas. Maybe they can recoup some of that.

FanDuel did not become suspicious while $20M in bets were being placed from a single NFL TEAM CREDIT CARD?? This didn't raise any eyebrows? What am I missing? The Alabama baseball coach didn't place bets with a University credit card and he still got caught.

Tricky case. If it was credit card fraud, Typically, the cardholder will not be liable for any fraudulent charge. A $20M card may be an exception but Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover all cover cardholders with a zero liability policy. It should be the card company trying to negotiate some type of recoup of funds.
