A good friend of ours is an NFL assistant coach with more than 10 years with NFL who has worked for several different teams. NFL teams can in fact legally block their staff from going to other teams. Don’t know the specific circumstances of when it can be applied. It has happened to him once over course of moving to other teams, but didn’t happen when he left Saints. From what I recall of our previous conversations it sounded like an option in place for NFL teams to protect their strategy (e.g. knowledge of playbook) but there are restrictions such as blocking promotions (e.g. Assistant up for a Coordinator role unless current team makes equivalent offer) stuff like that. My only point of posting is to confirm blocking is a legal option throughout NFL but not sure of details of what circumstances in which it is permitted.

This definitely sounds a bit odd. CSP didn't block block Brady from interviewing and leaving for LSU. He was allegedly upset about it but still wasn't a prick. Definitely sounds to me like Glenn is where he wants to be for now at least.

i think there is a difference in a position coach/assistant and a offensive analyst type position

Lol hate to pop your bubble but I don’t think Sean P. Was upset to lose Brady. As a fact, he was reported saying that he’s happy his staff hasn’t lost anyone major. Discussed some changes but Brady was never mentioned.

Not sure how this could be legal, unless in his contract or a way for the Saints to help him "respectfully decline.". Even the it's stupid of the coach not to go thru the interview for experience. Gonna lean more that it's a tad of a shady move by the saints. A raise better come out of it as the "block"

I never thought I would see the day when the Saints had to block their secondary coach from being hired from another team.

Sounds like Aaron told Coach that he didn't want to go to that shithole of a team and Payton said, I'll handle it from here.
