Outstanding! The Good Doctor would have averaged 5 or 6 more per game if he could have gotten the ball away from John Williamson!

FYI, voted the worst trade in Nets history

For all the younger readers reading this right now, yes, Julius Erving was originally on the Nets. Due to the Nets needing more money for NBA merger agreement, the Nets went on and traded away Dr. J.

Dr. J actually started his career with the Virginia Squires of the ABA by taking advantage of the ABA's hardship rule. In 1972, he became eligible for the NBA Draft, and the Bucks took him. But he had signed with the Hawks prior to the draft because of a contract dispute with the Squires. Big mess ensued and he actually played a couple of exhibition games with the Hawks before going back to the Squires, who needed money and sold him to the Nets after the '72-73 season.
