Back in the day, the radar clocked the pitch 6 - 8 feet in front of the plate. The pitch had already traveled 54 - 56 feet. FACT, please read slowly, pitches slow down after traveling 54 - 56 feet.

Today, the pitches are picked up about 3 - 5 feet from release point of pitching hand.

DUH, de, DUH DUH!!
