Former LSU women's basketball forward Sa'Myah Smith announced Sunday night that she has committed to Virginia.

Smith formally entered the transfer portal on April 3.

The 6-2 redshirt sophomore from Texarkana, Texas, played in 36 games this season with 28 starts, averaging 6.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

She suffered a torn ACL seven games into her sophomore season in 2023-2024.

Big loss to the program. Hard to understand this move as she had stardom written all over her game for next year.

She was our best Center last year. In Women's B Ball You must have a good center for scoring and defense. I liked her for both, we will miss her.

Maybe it’s an NIL thing, but I felt like she played pretty well in the tourney and has a much better shot at making the final 4 at LSU than Virginia. Who knows.

No apparently she was dating/messing around with a couple players on the team. I heard Poa was one of them
