That is the way it should be. Use it as a model and other schools will do the same.

THAT is what I'm talking about...not that exact scale. But it is nonsense that you get paid for a bad year the same amount that you get compensated for a good year. And the better year you have, the more money you get paid. His $20 million is probably too much for a national title but certainly a huge bump in the base salary is in order. I will say that I like that just because you win 1 national title, you don't automatically become the highest paid coach the next year also. If I remember right, Orgeron briefly became the highest paid coach simply for 1 amazing year.

yeah, a natty should double the base. three natties and your base goes to $8MM. saban would have bankrupted the entire state of Alabama with that setup but there ain't gonna be another 4+ natty-winning coach.

I like it. Incentive based and doesn’t allow Scott to bankrupt the program again. Why is a Sports TV personality coming up with this framework and not our Athletic Director? I’ll wait.

Been saying this for years...with just a $1M payday per win....nothing for losses....a bit simpler i know but I don't claim to be an agent...or on Board of Supervisors

What an absurd statement. Go take an economics class, Peter. Then explain to us why the next coach would take that offer while being a solid candidate.

Will *someone* take that deal? Sure…if you dip low enough into the talent pool.

But the elite coaches will just keep on looking. And they’ll keep beating LSU.

It should be LSU that changes things since we are largely responsible for the skyrocketing coaching costs going back to Saban. And not just head coaches, we have inflated the assistant coaches salaries dramatically.
