During ESPN's 'Get Up' on Wednesday morning, Paul Finebaum and Louis Riddick both picked Lane Kiffin and LSU for "winning the offseason."

While Championships aren't decided in January and February, the Tigers are headed in the right direction according to Finebaum and Riddick:
quote:

“Lane Kiffin, how many times do I need to say that?” Finebaum said. “He dominated the end of the season with his move, and then the CFP chaos, and then he brought in the portal. And you mentioned (Sam) Leavitt, that was a major acquisition. He desperately had to have a quarterback, but he did so well in the portal. That could be a problem, though, he’s got so many new players on that team, but I think even with a difficult schedule, LSU is a CFP team.”

"I don't think there is anyone who understands the portal as well as Lane," Riddick responded. "You can say what you want about him. This guy has mastered it. He's been killing it over the past three years and understands that kids vibe a little differently now. It’s not the same as it was when I came out of school. Kids will change schools in a heartbeat. He’s able to connect with them in a way that gets them to come and wanna play in his offense."

"Here’s the one thing, though, I can tell you, and I don’t know how many people have talked about this... but Lane believes that LSU can also attract top-flight defensive players, which is something he struggled with at Ole Miss."

"They get one of the best safeties in the portal in Ty Benefield out of Boise State, who is a freak of an athlete. He gets Princewill Umanmielen to come over from Ole Miss with him. He gets Jordan Seaton, an offensive tackle from Colorado. He gets his own offensive tackle from Ole Miss from last year."

"He didn't just get one quarterback in the portal; he got two. So they are set up right now, and he’s got a hell of a coaching staff. Look, Charlie Weis Jr. will figure out a way to get all these players to play together."

"Lane is going to turn that program around quickly. Say what you want about him and the way in which it happened, but the dude knows how to build football teams in the modern day."

If you had told me even 5 years ago that we’d have Lane, I wouldn’t have believed you and wouldn’t have cared. Now the timing was right and the sky is the limit. All aboard the Train. Geaux tigers.

I'm glad someone else has him and Saban steered Byrne away from him. Art the end of the day Saban's best move for Alabama was telling Byrne... Lane doesn't need to be in charge of a program like this.

His exit from Alabama was very unceremonious but obviously we’re glad it worked out the way it did.

Paul is like the Fox in, « Le Renard et Le Corbeau »! He wants the cheese in the bird-brain’s break.

Paul is sly, devious, Machiavellian, arrogant, envious and maliciously disingenuous!!!
