A new video from Attorney Matt Ory, who represents former Kyren Lacy and his family, shows that the former LSU receiver was 72.6 yards behind a fatal crash that killed a 78 year-old man last December.

In the video, you can see the wreck, followed by Lacy's green Dodge Charger approaching the accident from behind.

Per Yahoo:
quote:

Following the accident, Lacy was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle.

“At the time of impact, he’s 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact. Keyword — behind the vehicles. That is not how this story was ever painted. Never,” said Ory in the interview.

On Jan. 10, 2025, the LSU football star was accused of negligent homicide after a crash on Highway 20. A few days later, Lacy turned himself in to Lafourche Parish authorities. He was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. He was released after posting a $151,000 bail.

By February 2025, Lacy denied causing the crash. Ory shared the statement on his behalf saying, “At no time did Mr. Lacy’s vehicle strike the rear of Mr. Hall’s vehicle, nor did any of the vehicles Mr. Lacy passed collide with his,” Ory stated. “After the collision occurred in front of Mr. Lacy, he cautiously went around the vehicles after passage was safe.”

On April 12, Lacy was found dead after what investigators believed was a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a police chase in Harris County. Reports said Lacy fired a gun into the ground after an argument. Lacy fled the area and crashed in the 25900 block of Aldine Westfield.

Lacy was 72 yards behind? No he was yards away going at a high rate of speed directly towards the car that was passing. That car swerved back hitting another car head on. The reason she swerved back was to avoid Lacy who was coming at her. The alleged 72 yards is misleading because of the high rate of speed Lacy was traveling. Closing speed would have decreased the distance by possibly 2/3 making the relative distance more like 25 yards (which is why she swerved). Lacy caused the accident (or at least contributed to) due to his excessive speed. Then he compounded it by leaving the scene (because he knew he was guilty). So don't give me the "Lacy was so innocent and his family needs to sue everyone" crap

Had Lacy not been in the wrong lane in a no passing zone, which is illegal, the driver of the truck wouldn't have had to stop and veer to the right. If the driver of the truck doesn't stop and veer to the right the vehicle behind doesn't have to stop and veer left. He may not have been 100% at fault, but he has culpability, in my opinion. Tragic all the way around.

Lol, people do you realize 72 yards isnt that far when you are in the lane of on coming traffic. He did in fact cause the wreck.

When does LSU comment on the BS?

I had pictured this out on the open road...out in the country somewhere. Hell they're in town. Not as devastating a wreck as I had imagined.

Closing in from 100 yards(in his lane) to 72 yards(at time of impact) means he was driving for 28 yards or 84 ft in his lane securely with another car ahead of him not involved in the accident. Thats about 1.2 seconds of driving of which a car ahead of the accident who got into the accident then swerved in oncoming traffic. That ain't on Lacy. Nobody is even factoring how much further back the oncoming car that swerved into oncoming traffic was when Lacy actually secured his lane.

On the video if Lacy had been trying to pass the vehicle ahead of him, then yes I could see he caused a wreck but that wasnt even the case, he was following that vehicle which was behind the vehicle that got hit from an oncoming car

Reading the comments, I just want to say that most of our posters are absolute idiots. You people are blaming the DA when the attorney is reading the DA's own investigation report saying Lacy was not responsible and should not be tried or charged. Lacy killed himself before the report was released (2 days before if I recall correctly). The state trooper and his terrible investigation are at fault here, and fools are at fault for crucifying Lacy before waiting for the facts to come out. And now, instead of learning your lesson, y'all are crucifying the DA without the full facts. For once, please shut up.

Wow my heart goes out to the Lacy family. Ruined a young man’s life to extort money out of him. I seriously thought he caused it when this story occurred.

I hope that the next time I get a DUI coming home from an LSU game (my twelfth) Chicken lets my attorney come on here and present my defense.

Sucks but that Attorney is FOS and misleading the public. Lacy was driving like a mad man, passing too many cars at once. He swerved his to avoid hitting lacy and swerved into a fatal head on. No one ever said Lacy's car made contact with any other car.
"The investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Hwy 20. The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone. As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash. Troop C was later notified that Hall, who was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, succumbed to his injuries from the crash after being transported to a hospital for treatment."

Dude you are full of shite! If he was traveling in the wrong lane as fast as you say, he could have never stopped or slowed down behind that other car in his proper lane of travel. He would have flown past the accident. He almost came to a complete stop behind the car in his lane of travel. We were all led to believe that the car in the other lane had to swerve to miss his car. I don't see that according to this video.

The time you took to write this novel could’ve been spent on actually watching the video and you’d see that you are wrong. The driver in the truck didn’t slam on his brakes and even told the cops the accident was caused by the girl behind him who was tailgating him. The police report was fabricated and coerced to make Lacy look guilty. Sad that even after all the evidence the DA has provided that supports Lacy’s innocence that there are brain dead dumbasses like yourself that are too lazy to look at the facts before giving an opinion.
