LSU backup wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Sampson, a redshirt freshman from Baton Rouge, came to LSU as one of the top receiver prospects in the Class of 2023 but did not have a catch in two seasons.

Sampson played in eight games this past season.

More of the backup to the backup. Good luck kid. Hope you catch them wherever you end up

Really tough being behind Nabors, Thomas Jr, Anderson, Lacy, Mason Taylor and rb’s, when in line for catches.

Guess what Nabors, Thomas, Lacy, Taylor and the transfer from liberty are all gone. That said that eliminates 6 excuses you just made for the kid. BK literally said multiple times this season he needed to step up, find space, find his place in the line up. The fact of the matter is most of us fall short in dreams, success ofter forces a change of the plan to reach the goal. Making BS excuses doesnt make him more successful!

You need to focus. Those are players he has BEEN behind while there, not this year. Hoover is correct.

Meanwhile in Sampson’s brain:

“With Lacey graduating and Daniels transferring out, that opens the door for me to play more here next year. Guess I’ll leave now.”

He's not very good in case you haven't noticed. He doesn't know how to play WR and has a long ways to go. May have been a mutual parting.

No patience when your ego exceeds your skill. Clock is ticking and these guys are under so much pressure to produce as soon as possible.

Good luck to the kid. If he was here 4 years, he could have likely figured it out and became great. That doesn't happen anymore though.
