LSU running back Leonard Fournette announced Monday that he will enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He made his decision and thanked LSU fans with this letter:

Fournette began the 2016 season as a favorite for the Heisman Trophy but a lingering ankle injury caused him to miss four games this year. He finished the regular season with 843 yards on 123 carries and eight touchdowns.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has Fournette as the No. 2 prospect on his big board.

Thanks Leonard for some truly awesome performances. I know things don't always go as planned, but that may be the best thing you've learned here. There are those in life who feel everyone owes them and if things don't work out just right, someone else is to blame. Not so. You kept your head up, continued to work hard, and it's all about to pay off! I know you want to play in the bowl game, but I just don't think it's worth your future for 1 game. You have nothing to prove. You are a Beast! Geaux tear up the NFL! Ignore the naysayers. Stay grounded. And above all, put God first and all things will be added unto you! Thanks GOAT!

LF7 on if he is motivated by not getting invited to NY for Heisman: "Nah, I'm not worrying about it. My main motivation is my daughter. Everything I do is for her and she's worth it, so each and every day I come out to practice, compete with my brothers and just think about her every time I get a rep or if I'm not going as hard as I can, I keep going" Quality answer from a quality young man. GOAT.
