LSU head coach Brian Kelly met with reporters after the Tigers' 37-17 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday night and, during his opening statement, shared a strong message about the program's direction.

Later in his press conference, Kelly was asked by reporter Glenn Guilbeau about his "National Championship" statement and doubled down:
quote:

"The standard is the standard," Kelly said. "I didn't come here to go 8-4. I'm not happy about 8-4. Nobody in that locker room is happy about being 8-4. What they are happy is how they responded after a three-game losing streak."

"This game teaches you lessons about grit, toughness, perseverance, and not letting go of the rope. They easily could have fractured, but they stayed together."

"The big picture is that I'm excited about our future regardless of what people think. And everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But nobody knows what it looks like from the inside. I have the best perspective on that. You can write what you want and have your own opinions. I have a better perspective of it. I don't listen to what you have to say. We are going to build it the way we know we are going to build it, and I'll see you (with a smile) in the National Championship game."

Say what you want, but this TEAM bounced back with two decisive Ws against opponents with momentum. CBK didn't lose this team, and the PROGRAM is positioned well for the early signing period, portal window, and bowl practices/game. The stat last night showing JB and Nuss in yr 1 was profound. Not proclaiming Nuss will be a JB or JD, but he will be better next season & this team will again be right there for a CFP spot. Keep Charging Tigers!

Talk is cheap

Glad they closed a slide with two wins……time to build on the roster.

Agreed. The odds of LSU playing in an NC game anytime soon are very long.

Well it’s time to prove it next season. He’ll either show that he’s worth it or he’ll be gone.

Why do people keep saying this? Even CEO wasn’t dumb enough to promise national championships

Try to win at least one opening day game in 5 years (3 under you), don’t lose to inferior talented teams like Florida, not coach LSU to one of the most embarrassing losses in Tiger stadium history then get back to us
Until then it’s all blah blah blah

I hope you're right CBK.

I don't care what he said, I just enjoy another LSU coach putting Glen Gilblow in his place lol.

He needs a chip on his shoulder ALL offseason. We need a pissed off approach for 2025.

If he's that confident he will build a Championship team, then he should give up his buyout option in his contract. LSU expects to be in the playoffs not looking in from the house.

That's cute to say but if Nuss doesn't come back you have no plan at all. You're up a creek without a QB

In other words “I’m not going anywhere unless you pay me the full buyout”

In the SEC, #1 is 7-1 with the easiest schedule. Three of the top 5 in the SEC have the three easiest schedules. Six teams are locked in at 5-3.
