Austin Deculus And Grant Delpit Will Be Out Saturday, Orgeron Says

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron announced Thursday after practice that starting offensive tackle Austin Deculus and starting safety Grant Delpit will both be out vs. Arkansas on Saturday.

Delpit has been dealing with an ankle injury since the Auburn game on October 26 and will be replaced by true freshman Maurice “Mo” Hampton.

Deculus suffered an injury vs. Alabama on Nov. 9 and did not play last week against Ole Miss. He was replaced by Adrian Magee, which is what Coach O is planning on for the Arkansas game.

Best news possible. Injured players should probably rest until the SEC Championship game (although with A&M as a recruiting rival and bad blood after last year, LSU will want to beat up on A&M). Delpit clearly is hurting and can't change directions, recipe for disaster at safety. Hope he gets healthy

@LSUBadger, I don't know why you got downvoted like that, but I said this this past off-season. Guy was listed as athlete, looked better on defense in HS, yet decided to want to force his way on offense. LSU is going to have some monsters coming in at WR next year, Palmer is a monster waiting his turn now. McMath will be top 5 in rotation again next year if he stays. I mean Sullivan was moved to TE and was never seen again. He was a guy who also had the option to play defense yet forced his way as a WR. He's going to end up getting lost in the shuffle, just watch.

Absolutely silly these guys (Lee, Sullivan, etc) insist on playing out of their natural positions, you want to play for the #1 team or sit the bench for the #1 team? Just because you help out on D when needed doesn't mean you can never play offense again.

Been wondering how the other Frosh DBs were doing, Flotts going to great, Hampton must be showing something in practice, glad he's going to get the opportunity to experience getting a start

So that means Magee will be playing at his third different position on the o-line this year. Not bad for a guy that everyone said wouldn't see the field.
