Sounds like, uhh baseball to me. Your kid sucked as a freshman and he still sucks as a senior, I don't care how hard he works at practice if he can't catch a ball and hit one 450' dead center, sit down for someone who can.

How are some of you parents?

Well you see, when a boy meets a girl, there’s this thing they do that involves the pee pee in the vagee gee and out comes a lil wee wee.

Why not? The drive?

Kind of the drive. Also the open access to tons of alcohol. Crazies all over campus. He’s not very familiar with campus, parking, BTR in general. Cell service sucks and he’ll likely be an hour away from any adult he knows.

Parents of the Rant - Gameday question

Posted by loopback on 7/19/25 at 11:00 am
My son (17 in December) is wanting to go to the Arky game this year with JUST him and another couple of friends, all of whom are juniors in HS. He is very responsible and capable of managing his life, makes good grades, never in trouble, plays sports, has a job, etc, BUT gameday is an entirely different beast and we live an hour away from BTR.

As parents would you allow him to go without an adult, just him and a couple friends? My first instinct is absolutely not, but I just want to confirm I’m not being overly cautious. They would drive there day of and be back that night. No tailgating.
Too many pitches up in the zone called balls.

He’s purely a fastball hitter. Can’t see off speed.

I would never throw Jones a heater. Ever.

You want to know why I think they have had so many upsets? Travel ball. Hear me out. Since its inception travel ball has made the sport more competitive with more reps, more tournaments and more coaching, these days 9 year olds have private hitting coaches, although I totally despise what travel ball has become, it has had the by product of producing more collegiate capable kids, more talent and finite roster spots at big schools means overflow into the smaller schools so their talent levels have gone up drastically.

Not everyone can go to big name schools anymore. There’s got to be an impact .

I just bought one, and here's what I did:

1 - shopped all over the country via the web, no loyalty to ANY dealer even though I bought my last 4 locally from the same guy.

2 - I looked at my finances and determined what my absolute highest comfortable monthly note would be.

3 - I started emailing dealerships (no PHONE) and communicated with them ONLY via email or text and I told them exactly what I wanted. "I want X model, X trim, NEW or USED but under 30k miles and I want my note after all is done to be $XXX (less than the highest I had calculated) I am putting X down."

Then I let them come to me with offers, several times they offered over what I wanted my note to be and I would reply, "That's not the note I said I wanted, find something that matches for that note"

Eventually I got the vehicle I wanted at the price I wanted. BUT I had to be realistic about what my buying power was for the note I was willing to take on.
