Former Wisconsin defensive lineman Gio Paez announced his commitment to LSU on Tuesday.

The 6-3, 315-pound lineman from Los Angeles, Calif., has one year of eligibility remaining and will add depth to LSU's interior defensive line.

Paez played in 13 games with six starts last season for the Badgers and recorded 23 total tackles.

offers from Texas A&M, Nebraska, Louisville, Kentucky, NC State, Georgia Tech, etc. pretty impressive, considering the fact he didn’t start playing football until his sophomore year of high school.

23 tackles as a semi-starter is solid. Plus he has a great name.

23 Tackles in 6 starts. I'll take it. For perspective, Stamps had 23, Wingo had 25 and M. Smith had 28 last year.

Depending on his role, that doesn’t mean he’s not good necessarily. He may not be, but stats aren’t as relevant for dlineman as other positions.

Six starts is relevant. For a upperclassman for sure.
