Standout four-star athlete Shyheim Carter from Kentwood, LA stopped by LSU's campus for a visit Monday that was not originally planned, according to multiple sources.

Jimmy Smith with NOLA.com reports that LSU could be a potential landing spot for Carter due to the fact that he has two young children that he wants to be close to and because of his relationship with defensive line coach Ed Orgeron.
quote:

Carter has two children, both of which he plays an active role in helping raise, making it difficult for him to leave home. Another factor here is that LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has built a solid rapport with Carter and those involved in his recruitment. The Tigers view him as a versatile prospect that could excel at multiple positions.
Carter, a 5-11, 182-pound prospect from Kentwood HS was originally committed to Alabama but decommitted and re-opened his recruitment back in August. He is a top 10 player from the state of Louisiana.

Uh...he's in high school and already has two children he wants to stay close to. He may have 10 by the time he leaves LSU. I hate to sound so negative but there's a bigger issue here than whether we sign this kid or not.

Highlight reel shows him as Mr. Carter. Plays single A football, two children while in high school, and repped by a handler. What possibly could anyone question about bringing this into the fold.

He's had these kids for awhile. Why did they just become such a huge factor a few weeks from NSD?

Jesus Christ. He'll be halfway to Antonio Cromartie by the time he declares too early for the draft.
