LSU head coach Jay Johnson spoke with the media this week, revealing that a previously scheduled team backed out of playing the Tigers on Opening Weekend this year.
Johnson said the team canceled the series in September, and there was a chance LSU would open the season on the road before Purdue Fort Wayne agreed to come to Baton Rouge.
Johnson did not disclose the team that backed out but explained it was a team that had a coaching change in the offseason, and the first-year head coach did not want to start his tenure against the Tigers at Alex Box.
