LSU head coach Jay Johnson spoke with the media this week, revealing that a previously scheduled team backed out of playing the Tigers on Opening Weekend this year.

Johnson said the team canceled the series in September, and there was a chance LSU would open the season on the road before Purdue Fort Wayne agreed to come to Baton Rouge.

Johnson did not disclose the team that backed out but explained it was a team that had a coaching change in the offseason, and the first-year head coach did not want to start his tenure against the Tigers at Alex Box.

Senk would have brought Stony Brook down here. That Super Regional was 13 years ago (2012)

That coach: "Yeah, let me deprive my kids of the opportunity to play at the mecca of college baseball."
"Let me tell my ballplayers I am afraid to play a good team."
"Look, guys, I know you'd love to play there, but I'm sure those 3 losses will get me fired."

Some of you act as if this is the first time anything like this has ever happened.

I agree and disagree with the team that backed out. On one hand, you want to give your new team the best possible chance to start your season with some wins. On the other hand, pretty crappy you didn’t honor your commitment.

My guess is Stephen F. Austin.

Maybe if he had left SEC teams off his list. But putting SEC teams on there is just dumb.
