Per LSUSports.net: Southern Miss third baseman Danny Lynch sent a pop fly to left field with runners on the corners scoring USM first baseman Christopher Sargent from third on a sac fly to lift the Golden Eagles to an 8-7 victory in a winner-take-all Game 7 in the NCAA Hattiesburg regional at Pete Taylor Park.
LSU’s season ends in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, closing the season with a record of 40-22. USM improves to 47-17 and moves onto the Super Regional round against the winner of the Coral Gables regional, Arizona or Ole Miss.
The Eagles Tyler Stuart picked up the win after tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no runs on no hits.
LSU’s Eric Reyzelman was charged with the loss, pitching two while giving up one run on three hits.
