LSU received a major boost to its future pitching staff this week as left-handed pitcher Braxton Beaty announced he is withdrawing from the 2026 MLB Draft and will enroll in Baton Rouge.
One of the top prep southpaws in the country, Beaty has been committed to LSU since 2023 and was considered a legitimate professional prospect before opting to begin his college career with the Tigers.
The Angleton, Texas, native has been ranked among the nation's top left-handed pitchers in the 2026 class, featuring a fastball that has reached the low-90s along with a polished three-pitch mix that includes a swing-and-miss slider and changeup.
His decision to honor his commitment gives head coach Jay Johnson another high-end arm to build around as LSU continues to stockpile elite talent on the recruiting trail.
