Following a 4-0 week, including a series sweep of South Carolina, the Tigers' chances of making the NCAA Tournament are still alive.

Sitting at 28-21 overall and 9-15 in conference play, head coach Jay Johnson believes the Tigers will need to win five of the remaining seven games to reach the NCAA Tournament.

LSU will face Tulane on Tuesday night, then a road series at No. 6 Georgia this weekend, and will wrap up the regular season with a home series against Florida before the SEC Tournament.

Jay has done a good job of controlling the peak. This is going to be one helluva ride.

Based on records, you would think so. But baseball is weird.

Not necessarily. There are several combinations to get to 5.

Magic number is 13 SEC wins. If they get to 14 with a win in the SECT they get in.

Predicts what LSU needs? He is predicting it? Prediction would be I think LSU wins 4 more games. The coach is stating what he thinks they need to do to make it to the post season. That is not a prediction.

Winning a game each against Georgia and Florida is probable. Winning 2 of 3 against them both is very unlikely. But we can still hope

Not going to happen. I see maybe one win at GA. GA is the real deal. Maybe two wins against FL at home. LSU got behind the 8 ball too quickly. Injuries hurt us big time, otherwise we would be in already.

I don't see the Tigers winning more than maybe 2 regular season games so it's a moot point. We sweep a bottom feeder in the conference this past weekend, and all of a sudden people seem to believe that we are better than we are. The young hitters are surely coming around, but we are a long way from being competitive with Georgia or even Florida.

You're probably right, but throwing strikes translates no matter who you play

Oh please, lol. This team is hot garbage. Why would you want to make the tournament and then be embarrassed like that? Acknowledge your mistakes with putting this team together, recruit, and put a better team on the field next year. This team has been an embarrassment, one year after a National Championship.

try looking at the scores in the losses. Most could have been won. Not very many "blowouts" so I would not call the team an embarrassment. However you could easily be referred to as an embarrassnent '
