PGA Tour Bans Fans From Shouting 'Brooksy' At Bryson DeChambeau
© Scott Taetsch-USA TODAY Sports
On Tuesday, the PGA Tour announced it will no longer allow fans to shout "Brooksy" at the star golfer Bryson DeChambeau...
quote:

Of course, the shade is a nod to Bryson's beef with fellow golf star Brooks Koepka -- and it's something Koepka fans have gotten plenty of joy out of the last few months.

But, PGA Tour commish Jay Monahan said Tuesday the taunts will no longer be allowed ... calling the "Brooksy" remarks "disrespectful."

"The barometer that we are all using is the word 'respect,'" Monahan told reporters. "And to me, when you hear 'Brooksy' yelled or you hear any expression yelled, the question is, is that respectful or disrespectful?"

"It has been going on for an extended period of time, and to me, at this point, it's disrespectful. And that's the kind of behavior we're not going to tolerate going forward."

Monahan said the "Brooksy" comments -- and any other acts deemed disrespectful by fans -- will now result in a ban from events.

Really don't understand the hate for this guy. If anyone yelled "Phil!" after every Tiger swing, we'd be reading the same article. You're standing 10feet from the guy, yes, it's disrespectful in a "gentleman's" game. Why be an asshat and yell anything anyway?

The "PGA" wanted to be "all inclusive", have fans of every walk of life and back ground, to "grow the sport" well, now the PGA doesn't like some of things that go with that and, want to throw the un-desirables. No different than tennis where they want a bunch of fans in the stands but they need to keep their frick'n mouths shut. With out the "little man" play'n golf, there'd be more places to hunt.

I guess the PGA doesn't like making money, either. Fans pay to get in to your boring tournaments, and taunting is something fans do, and is part of all sports. Golf isn't going to recover from it's post Tiger hangover by telling fans what they can or cannot say, unless we're talking about some really, really foul language.. I haven't even been following whatever this "beef" is, but if "brooksy" is now considered over the top, then that's pretty pathetic.

Golf will be just fine if the poors and trailer park crowd can't harass players and scream dumb shite after every shot. See the Masters which is the hardest tournament in the world to get into.

Strannix I'm pretty sure the "poors and trailer park crowd" aren't the one's ruining your dream of golf utopia. They can't afford to get into these tournaments, and neither can I, for that matter. When professional athletes act like unprofessional babies, and start publicly fueding with other players, they open themselves up to heckling. Which brings me to my response to ApexTiger: No one is saying it should be a frat boy scramble tournament (whatever that is). It's not as if the entire crowd is screaming obscenities the entire time. As I said before, when you act unprofessionally, you're going to get heckled, and that has always been a part of sports, and yes, that most certainly includes golf. I would think some of you would have learned a lesson by now about what happens when we start letting people tell us what we can say. I don't care how sacred gold apparently is to some of you. It's a freaking game. Get over it.
