John Calipari Explains How He Screwed Up And Helped Choke Away Arkansas' Season

Cal took his players bowling last year after losing the conference tournament instead of having them practice, and when the press asked him about the loss and the hot seat, he said "What's the worst that can happen?" Complacent Cal is not a good Cal. He did well with Arkansas, but Pope coming in and getting UK to their first Sweet 16 in six years after Cal had a recruiter's dream at UK says something about Cal's coaching. He can recruit like hell, but there are several games where if he focused on fundamentals, his teams could have been unstoppable.

Arkansas hits free throws down stretch they win. I thought the jump ball call that allowed Tech to tie the game was crucial.

Hindsight is 20/20, but after the fact, his team wasn't prepared for that last possession. It's clear there was no play called for that scenario in a huddle in OT. If they weren't prepared, like it looked, a timeout was needed. I'll give TT credit though, they had 3 guys making a wall in front of him, he wasn't getting closer to the basket.
