Public intox? Was he trying to fight someone or something? What's the point of arresting someone for this?

He was a "Danger to himself". In the old days, he would be allowed to fall down, get cut, get stitches, and heal up with a new education. Now, he just gets to pay a few thousand in legal expenses and has learned to hate the police.

A college kid had too many drinks? You don't say. The police couldn't just give him a lift home or let him call someone to come get him? Was there really a need to arrest him? He wasn't driving so I'd let him phone a friend.
