Quick question: what is the definition of a "sidewalk fan."

a: a fan who didn't attend the university that they are a fan of,
or
b: something that im4lsu just made up?

If they are from an SEC town and attend an out of SEC school but still cheer for a team that isn't their hometown team.

Didn't get my degree from LSU.

I say someone who didn't attend the university they pull for. (People who grew up a fan of a certain team but went to a different university for educational reasons are excluded.)

Someone without a degree who represents their University in a classless manner. I will not call lifelong fans side walkers even if they don't have a degree because getting a degree from their school of choice is not always a realistic possibility.

The term "sidewalk fan" doesn't have to have a negative connotation.

I agree with this. Not only could it not be realistic, it could also not be beneficial. Why go to UT or Bama or Vandy when you could go to a real school like Penn, Princeton, or Harvard?
It's the Auto Diesel Graduates that have never stepped foot outside of Knoxville yet have cheered for Bama "diehard" for the past 5 years that are sidewalkers.
