Yeah, you must've gotten that from the other thread when I said:

I don't give a shite about converting you.

and

You're a sidewalk LSU fan because you never attended LSU. The part about you going to MSU is actually irrelevant

and

Jesus christ. I'm not questioning his fan hood. Someone asked him if was a sidewalk fan and he replied "no." He is, and we're just trying to work through this.

You're right. I'm totes rustled.

I consider a sidewalk fan to be a fan who did not attend a school and has no real ties to the school other than living in the same state and represents the fanbase in a classless manner, or is fairweather. There are many die hard fans who did not attend their favorite school because of military, going to another school, or just didnt have the option of attending college.

I guess I've always thought it was fairweather fans? Like the ones who are walking up and down the sidewalks before gameday asking for tickets because they're shitty and don't already have season tickets.

I'm a 3rd generation UGA grad but I'm usually looking for tickets on gameday because I'm cheap as hell and always wanting to get a good deal.

See, I don't think a sidewalk is a bad fan. It's just a fan that didn't go to school there.

I always considered sidewalk fans to be fans of a team only when they're good but don't have a clue about the team itself and when the team gets bad suddenly they're not so much of a fan anymore.

I don't like the idea of not being a "real" fan because you didn't attend a school. I think there are plenty of loyal and passionate fans of schools who never attended the school. I mean its like saying all fans of pro teams are sidewalk fans unless they played for the team or work for the organization.

Sidewalk fans don't sound as bad as bandwagon fans. To me there seems to be a distinction, as sidewalk fans are primarily fans of a somewhat local school that they didn't attend. Bandwagon fans (Notre Dame, So Cal etc.) can be from anywhere.

Agree with this. Sidewalker can be used in a negative way but there are too many actual, die hard fans that did not attend their school.

One thing I will point out is that for some fanbases around here, particularly my own, the ones who attended their favorite schools tend to be better posters.

Bandwagon fan is a Miami Heat fan who left early last night...nothing like a sidewalk fan.

If you are from a different state than the SEC school you attended are you a level 1 sidewalker? IMO yes, level 1 also includes people from the state that didn't attend the school. Level 2 and you neither attended the school or are from the state. This is the only offensive category of sidewalk fan.

It's 'a'.

Anyone walking down the sidewalk can put on the "jersey of the day" and be a fan.

Alumnus have a lifelong tie to their school and made significant personal investment and sacrifice to actually be a "member" of the college family. Buying t-shirts and tix can't compare....Bama fans.

There is a huge difference in college and pro bandwagon fans. You can adopt a pro team for whatever reasons and if your not from the city or state of that team youre considered a bandwagon fan.
