Good examples. Would you like me to delve into the cajun pieces of shite that cheer for LSU that never even received an elementary degree?

BradPitt, is a Bama fan, for the record. However, delve into whatever you'd like.

Don't give a frick. All I know is Tennessee has no major instate rivals - and they're one of the larger SEC states, so I'm pretty sure 99% of the hillbillies in UT Stadium has yet to obtain even their GED.

I'll attack the Bama sidewalkers as well. Don't give a frick.

And Chinamen...

The term "sidewalk fan" doesn't have to have a negative connotation.

Depends on who you are. I hate sidewalk fans. It might not have a negative 'denotation' (if it had one), but it definitely has a negative connotation for me.

I always considered sidewalk fans to be fans of a team only when they're good but don't have a clue about the team itself and when the team gets bad suddenly they're not so much of a fan anymore.

I don't like the idea of not being a "real" fan because you didn't attend a school. I think there are plenty of loyal and passionate fans of schools who never attended the school. I mean its like saying all fans of pro teams are sidewalk fans unless they played for the team or work for the organization.

Didn't know that. My apologies.

Neither does Arkansas, LSU, Georgia (GT only counts if we're talking academics) or Mizzou (I feel dirty including them).

Where is "UT Stadium"? It appears you have squared away your GED, though. Congrats!

I don't know about Arky (their fans are too poor to even be sidewalkers), but between LSU, UT, Bama and the Gators, I think it's a draw. You've got coonasses, hillbillies, rednecks and swamp things.

My apologies... "Derek Dooley Stadium at Urban Meyer Field"

I think it's safe to say every fanbase in the SEC has these.

I've always thought of a sidewalk fan as one who didn't go to school there, has barely any affiliation with the school (if any), and is completely cocky about that team towards fans of other schools. Affiliation, meaning didn't even live in the same state as that school.

ETA: most Notre Dame fans are sidewalk

Other terms I've heard are "Pick-up truck alumni" and "Subway Alumni" to refer to blue collar Catholics in New York that used to overwhelmingly be Notre Dame fans.
