I just don't think fans of schools they didn't attend can feel the same pride or connection to the school like graduates do.

Also, I've noticed the most shite talkers on my social media feed are the same ones who are not graduates of said school they are running their mouth about.

I attended and think it is bullshite. If you like a team and stick with them when they are bad I could give two shits if you attended.

And if you attended and don't really care are you more of a fan than the person who grew up down the road, but either went into the military, another school etc.

People that chastise people for not attending the school they are fans of are pathetic.

Yeah...I root for MSU because I went to undergrad there. I would have rooted for UT if I decided to go there.

I don't really come from a family of sports fanatics, so I guess I don't understand the mindset. I am guessing most people who did not go to the school they root for do so because of family influence?

It's crap and it is insulting. My brother in law is a HUGE LSU fan. He decided to join the Marines after high school instead of going to college. He grew up watching LSU games with his Dad. They went to games all the time. I think it is insulting to tell him he didn't earn the right to be a fan because he didn't go to school there.

I joined when I was 17 and served 10 years. When I got out, for family reasons, I went to South (in Mobile). Didn't do any of the normal college stuff since I had a fullt ime job and had to support myself. I grew up in BR, been going to games for 40 years now.

only douchebags who get upset if someone wears a jersey say these kinds of things.

They want to be the only ones who are "true fans".

If anyone wants to come up to me at an alabama game and insult my jersey in front of me go ahead.

I got my #10 McCannon jersey dry cleaned and ready to rock.

ETA: I'm told I'm pretty kewl too.

I've got tickets to visit Tuscaloosa again so I'll just insult everyone in a AJ jersey to make sure I find you.

Just look for the McCannon on the back.

Yep.

I don't even mind sidewalk fans who can actually point me in the general direction of Oxford, go to athletic events, can name one player on the football team, etc.

The "OM fans" that never went to college, don't know where Oxford even is, wear OM shirts every single day, drive a truck with ten OM bumper stickers, and are the first to talk shite about OM beats state in the egg bowl are THE WORST.

*can interchange LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc. for OM*
