Been a bama fan my whole life, and it will not waiver. But to you too.

Essentially what it boils down to is this:

If you support a program by going to games, or if not, if you make every effort to watch every game and you anguish in every loss to some degree and feel real pride and spirit of unity with every victory then I don't care if you never stepped foot on the campus, you are a real fan period.

I am very familiar with Houlka. My late wife's Dad was from there and my Dad worked as a part time police officer up there after he retired.

I bet your parents I have crossed paths at some point if they have been here long.

There are some beautiful places up there out in the county, even if the town itself is pretty shitty.

My mom is not from there, but my step-father is, and I can assure you that he know's your late wifes dad, (sorry to hear). And yes, when I visit, I'm on the four wheeler until dark. Thank God for my basketball goal as well, I feel like pistol pete out there. My step-fathers sister has a few businesses in houlka and ponotoc and they have lived there their whole lives.

I might go a step further (and to the dismay of all the marketing folks out there) and look at broader measures.

Do you support the team in action over goods? I see lots of folks who sit on the front row at church defined by what they wear for the sake of appearance but I respect the guy with plainclothes who sits in the back and is more active in the day to day.

Do you support the spectrum over the singular? Being a fan of Bama football is different than supporting Bama basketball as well. It is easy to support a winning team with traditions but following a team without is a whole different level of fan.

Do you support the non sports side of college sports? I love fantastic play as well as anybody but I also want the institution I am a fan of to mold leaders and thinkers. Winning a game is great but winning at life is much better. In a age of "me" it is nice to see the message of "we" getting passed on to those who will be responsible in an age when we are dead or in nursing homes.

Someone who didn't attend the college.

Someone who didn't attend college at all.

Half of Alabama's fanbase.

If they are from an SEC town and attend an out of SEC school but still cheer for a team that isn't their hometown team.

All of these are the correct answers.

I know tons of Alabama fans that attend Auburn aswell. It's in the blood wether you can admit it or not. School spirit is very understandable though.

Terry Daniels (All American punter for AU under Terry Bowden) is still a huge bama fan to this day.

True, that's my case. Of course I'm going to cheer for a school that I'm paying tuition at. I might not know much about Mizzou athletics but I support them, paying for school, etc. It's not like Mizzou is a powerhouse so people can't ever say I started cheering for Mizzou because they're "good".

So are you saying someone who didn't experience the greatness, majesty, and class of the tide until 2011 is not allowed to be a fan?
