Yeah well if they're in the SEC-W then they would have a lot more talent. This is frickin Cincinnati, unbelievable job Fickel has done there with these guys.
As a fan, a coach, teammate-- I agree with him. As the player in question, I wouldn't want some fat sausage-fingers lineman falling on my ankle in the frickshit bowl and ending my career when I'm *that* close to the goal. All depends on perspective.
If Steve Coogin and Adam Sandler had a child.

Cincy has had recruiting years where there top player is ranked like #690 in the country. It’s a travesty they were even considered.

Just STFU-- Georgia only beat Cincy by 3 last year and they beat ND this year-- Cincy is a good team and they deserve it. I bet Saban would agree. I know the CFP comittee agrees. ND would actually be in the top 4 right now if Cincy hadn't already eliminated them. Smh.
I literally had a dream about the Egg Bowl last night-- Leach was winning at halftime and then Ole Miss came storming and won 85-54. After the game, Leach was like "We had 54, which should win you the game on most days, but those boys probably got a little extra shot of cranberry sauce-- I'll take the kind in the can any day, I don't like that stuff with the berries in it".

I don't know why a West Virginia fan living in Colorado is having dreams about Miss St vs Ole Miss, but there it is.
You guys are giggling, but that's just a misunderstanding of how this algorithm works. It becomes more and more accurate over the season... wildly inaccurate the first several weeks.

I think LSU would be favored by at least a touchdown on a neutral field against all of the following: Nebraska Baylor West Virginia Florida State Boise State Florida Oklahoma Utah Tennessee I think we would be a touchdown underdog on a neutral field against Alabama and maybe Louisville. The others (Michigan, Clemson, Washington, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Auburn) would be close, according to the oddsmakers--either we or they would be favored by less than a touchdown. This is, of course, just my guess.

A-hahaha. Smh.

This is actually what I love about this board.

Based on what?

Based on this:

No, they're ranked #185. They're #138 only among private colleges. Forbes

Edit: It appears that they're #1 right now in rape scandal news stories, though, if that helps your argument at all. No?

Nice point.

Good one. I didn't think of that.

Nah, no trolling. A sports writer friend and I were discussing and his article was making it out like this was a good deal for LSU. It didnt seem a good deal to me and I know you guys know your stuff. It was just a clarifying question since there was so much misinformation and elation in some camps.

If you guys are getting a home with Florida this year but having to give up your home with Florida next year-- net effect zero. Some may argue this is actually a loss because you're giving up a night home game in exhange for a day home game.

Then on top of that you're losing ANOTHER home game vs. S Alabama. Then on top of that you're having to pay $1+ million to buy out the S. Alabama game.

I just don't see how this is a good deal for LSU at all.

If you guys had said no then you'd have kept the home game vs S. Alabama, kept the money you're now paying them, kept the night home game vs. Florida next year, had one extra home game for the businesses in Baton Rouge (over this season and next), and lost only an away game vs. Florida this year.

I play competitive chess, and studies have shown that grandmasters at the very highest levels possess this exact quality. The thought of losing is such an overwhelming and driving force that it contributes more than anything else to their own continual betterment at the game. I guess I don't have enough of that.

Net Effect of the Florida deal

Posted by fiercey on 10/14/16 at 12:57 am
Let me get this straight.

You guys traded locations on two games: an away game with Florida next year for a home game with Florida this year. This part should be a wash for both university dollars and local economy dollars.

You guys lost the home game with S. Alabama. This hurts university dollars and local economy dollars.

You guys have to pay S. Alabama to buy out the date. This hurts university dollars.

Florida gets to use their insurance for this year's game. Are they reimbursing you with that money or is LSU and Baton Rouge just getting screwed here?

Edit: The net effect over this season and next is LSU and Baton Rouge lose one (home) game and LSU also pays to buy out the S. Alabama game.

Edit #2: roger79 said: "LSU traded a night home game for a day home game in 2016" and Jeff Goldblum said: "You forgot to mention another downside. Without the South Alabama game (win we assume) we will have a tougher time qualifying for a bowl game."

Both good points.

I think the crux of it is what I posted in a reply further down:

quote:

If you guys are getting a home with Florida this year but having to give up your home with Florida next year-- net effect on that point is zero. Some may argue this is actually a loss because you're giving up a night home game in exhange for a day home game.

Then on top of that you're losing ANOTHER home game vs. S Alabama. Then on top of that you're having to pay $1.5 million to buy out the S. Alabama game. I just don't see how this is a good deal for LSU at all.

If you guys had said no then you'd have kept the home game vs S. Alabama, kept the $1.5 million you're now paying them, kept the night home game vs. Florida next year, had one extra home game for the businesses in Baton Rouge (over this season and next), and lost only an away game vs. Florida this year.

Last sentence in this post was about Leach. I really like the guy.

LINK

Wash St. dropped the first two games this season to crap teams (well Boise St was one, but sans Coach Petersen) and he was MAD. All they've done since then is whip Oregon and Stanford.

But, another point is the liability, which is very real. Let's say they move it to Atlanta, BR, etc., during a coastal evacuation order. Some idiot drives in a ditch and dies wearing a Gator tshirt. His family sues the school and the state that he was rushing to get to LA to see the Gator game. Somebody has a heart attack laying on their couch. They are going to attribute it to the stress from the storm (even though he was eating 5 lbs of cheetohs every day) and he just so happen to be wearing a Gator or LSU shirt so the schools are responsible.
