re: Texas Longhorns will spend between $35-40 million on their football roster
Posted by Atari on 4/30/25 at 9:11 pm
I'm not saying we aren't spending more than anyone else. I'm not saying we aren't spending a "record" amount.
I will say Kirk Bohls is an assclown who pulled that $35-40 million number out of his arse. He does this shite every summer where he tries to stir shite up with 1/4 truths to get people to post his articles.

re: If your team/college didn't exist who would y'all root for?

I guess Rice, not at the same level, but it's where my older sister and her husband both graduated. She used to send me Rice shirts and hats when I was in middle school.
re: Have you or will you ever donate to an NIL fund/collective?

Straight cash? Nah, never will. But I did buy some Bijan Dijon cause I thought it was funny and didn't mind spending a little more $ to support a player.
If they did more things like that I'd be happy to, but I'm still paying off my student loans why would I give them more money.

re: Is BK the most unlikeable coach in CFB?
Posted by Atari on 2/6/25 at 4:39 pm
FOR ME, BK can never be the most unlikable as long as Dabo is still around. I despise that man. Would watch with glee if he were to fall. I very much desire to watch his nose get pushed in.
re: If you were a college grad where would you move to in Texas?
Posted by Atari on 1/30/25 at 12:53 am
I wouldn't move here, Austin was amazing like 25 years ago (Edit make that 35-40 years ago, easy to forget 1990 isn't 25 years ago), it's not that anymore. Houston is ugly as sin, but the job market is good. Dallas is full of young kids driving around in base model BMW's huffing each other's farts and thinking they run the world. All of that on top of the crazy high property taxes. I owe $14,413 property tax this year, on a house appraised at $700,000. I bought the house 5 years ago for $450k

Can never and I mean EVER pull for the Bills. They are the team that stole my childhood from me. January 3, 1993 I was 7 years old and LOVED the Houston Oilers. Screw the Bills forever and always.
I hope whichever NFC East teams makes it wins it. I don't really have a preference either one would piss of Cowboys fans and that's good with me.

re: Tuesday SEC Basketball

Said it before the aggy game but nothing is going to shake me from my feeling that Texas may go winless in the conference this year. The offense doesn't do any one thing above average. They may win 1 or 2 but there aren't any games I'd bet on them to win.
re: Basketball: Do they need to reduce the diameter of the rim or what?

I'm more what I'd consider Xennial but to me it starts with the fact that the NBA started pushing stars. That sound good in theory and it was when stars stayed with their teams. I never saw Magic or Bird in their prime but did follow Jordan's Bulls, Isiah Thomas's Pistons, Hakeem's Rockets, Drexler's Blazers, etc
Now those stars jump teams every few years, teams don't stick with their players. Does it make for more parity? I guess maybe, but it's less fun to follow.

don't care, we didn't join the SEC to make new fans. We're here for the $$ and the $$ only. We'll make you guys money and you'll make us money and that's the end of the exchange.

What happened? Minute Maid didn’t renew their naming rights?
From what I read the naming rights ran out, they did put in a similar bid but Daikin paid more. Daikin is the worlds largest air conditioner manufacturer so maybe it can be the Ice Box now instead of the Juice Box.

I need to see a full game of Stockton. He scored once on Texas when they were caught off-guard and didn't know much about him. He looked very pedestrian after that. Does that mean he's bad? No, but now that there's tape on him and teams know what to expect can he elevate? I don't know, but I wouldn't want to be finding out in a playoff game.

Y'all love to worry about the maybe 10 trans women in sports and claim it ruins the integrity. But don't see the issue with 17-18 year olds KIDS having to play against 29 year old MEN.
re: If you were the 49ers, would you pay Brock Purdy?
Posted by Atari on 12/12/24 at 10:43 pm
Not me, I've never thought he was great. He's a game manager, which is great when you have talent around them, but he's not a game changer.
re: Why isn’t arch manning the Texas starter?
Posted by Atari on 12/12/24 at 9:53 pm
My theory is Ewers was promised 2 years when they told him they were going to get Manning (as long as he's healthy), but that it's Arch's team next year.
But now that Ewers has kinda tanked his draft stock I'm curious if he transfers out to try to get back into 1st,2nd round status or if he declares for the draft (I'm not sure he's fallen out of the 1st or 2nd round, NFL teams see things in QBs that I don't)

Ugh I hate Bert Kreischer he's the "commedian" version of Gus Johnson. He just yells for effect. It was mildly entertaining when he first hit the scene and now it's it's just annoying and awful.
re: Anyone ever 'switched' pro sports teams?

I have but not for bad team/good team reasons.
I grew up watching and rooting for the Houston Oilers. They left Houston when I was in the 5th grade. There was no way I'd root for a team in tennessee that stole my team and also screw Dallas I'd never be a cowboys fan. So I became a Saints fan, they were the closest team that wasn't the cowboys. Then Houston got a team back, the Texans became my primary team if they play the Saints I root for the Texans, but any other week of the season I root for both teams.
