They lost pretty much the entire coaching staff, at least offensively. People have to remember Lane and his coaching staff are what turned Ole Miss into what they were the last few seasons. They also lost Glasscock who was instrumental in assembling their roster, and guys like Princewell, Dottery, and Watkins are all fantastic players Ole Miss relied on.

1. Dillin Jones is an absolute animal at RB. We haven’t had a back like him in a few years. He runs with his hair on fire. Has excellent vision, accelerates through holes, doesn’t go down on first contact, and plays somewhat like a pinball bouncing off defenders.

2. Leavitt’s rushing ability. If there were any concerns about his leg, last night should put that to bed. He will need to slide a little more as the season progresses, but wow he can elude defenders, and get out of holes. We have seen first hand what a mobile QB does for an offense. When it all breaks down, Leavitt can create on the ground. I agree with Herbstreit from last night, he does resemble college Mayfield a little bit in the pocket. Also as the game went on, he started to hit a few dimes, there were just a few drops from the WR’s.

3. Watkins might be better than advertised at WR. He was open most of the night. Phillip Wright was electric on his TD catch, and his downfield catch was awesome.

4. The O-line was absolutely dominate. There were only a couple of times where Leavitt was even pressured. They were able to push defenders off the line in the run game, and created big, clear holes for the RB’s. Seaton didn’t allow a single pressure all night on something like 38 pass blocking snaps.

5. Over 300 passing yards, and over 300 rushing yards for 650 total yards. This is what a balanced offense feels like. We finally have a run game again, and it will allow us to take whatever we want through the air. I mean 650 yards, and 38 first downs? Unheard of stuff. The offense had rhythm the entire night, and couldn’t be stopped.

6. The front 7 is as advertised. Ross and Princewell were incredible on the edge. We will be able to rotate 5 guys on the interior, and these aren’t just bodies, they are all guys that can play. Right behind them you have Weeks and Dottery. This defense is going to be as legit as it has been since at least 2019.

7. Bennefield, Pickett, Woodland, Spears and company are as advertised as well.

8. The way LSU left no doubt on the field. We didn’t run up the score, but how good does it feel to absolutely demolish an opponent and keep that same energy throughout most of the 4th quarter? Even in Miles years there would be games we would squeak by, certainly in the Kelly years as well. “Well yeah we won, but we left some out there” this has been a sentiment for quite some time sans 2019. The fact that LSU went out there and just obliterated a “competent” opponent was glorious to see.

This team is legit, and it’s clear after only 1 game. We do have a brutal schedule, but it does set up somewhat if we can get through the first month. The offense is electric, the defense is reminding me of the old school LSU defenses with dawgs everywhere. On top of all of this, we have an elite coaching staff across the board that we can finally feel confident will gameplan accordingly, make the correct adjustments, and put the right players in the right positions to succeed. I’m telling y’all with Brian Kelly and company last night that’s maybe a 10 point win.

As some years have passed, I feel like Delpit has become one of the more underrated players in LSU history.

Delpit was a true LSU DAWG that we have been lacking since 2019. He was one of those guys that brought that dawg mentality to the defensive side of the ball from 2000-2019.

He should have won the Thorpe in 2018, 74 tackles, 10 TFL, 5 picks, but he ended up winning it in 2019 with a “lesser season” He was a beast in 2017 too.

I’m hoping Benefield will fit the mold of a guy like Delpit or Jamal Adams. We have missed guys like that for awhile now.

People were shitting on Berhalter in the first half, and he assisted goal 1 and scored goal 2.

Between Weah, Robinson, the entire back line, and the ref, that first half was brutal to watch the last 35 or so minutes. I would play Pulisic no matter what. I get it’s the bench, but that was a pathetic effort after the 10th or so minute.
