Given the crap they let the Cowboys DBs get away with, that OPI call was utterly ridiculous. Not to mention another missed leading with the helmet by a Dallas defender to the TE on the same play.

Dallas’ defense is entirely predicated on the refs swallowing their whistles in obvious defensive penalties.

There are parallels but pretty different scenarios in these games.

Saints-Cowboys was the Saints 3rd game in 11 days with the last on the road. While people want to claim they had a full week to prepare, that doesn’t fix the drain that type of schedule puts on players.

The Rams came off a bye and road game in Detroit where they looked mediocre but won. Then went on the road. It’s not the same thing.

Dallas defense is good but their style of defense is entirely dependent on the officials swallowing their whistles on holding, PI and illegal contact. Their DB coach was DB coach for the Legion of Boom in seattle. There is a reason it looks so similar and why again today they got away with a ton against Philly but once Philly adjusted they burned them.

Dallas barely beat a Philly team that is in their 4th string DBs at this point at at home.

Chicago lost to the Giants.

Consistency is not their strengths. Both the Rams and Saints will be better if rematches happen in the playoffs versus those two, especially at home.

Yeah, it was a brilliant intentional call. That's why it happened so close to the play clock running out.

Congrats Cowboys. The refs clearly calling BS to help y’all. Pathetic.
Team is showing no heart of offense. Pathetic.
Brees again with no awareness
This is entirely on Payton and Brees. They are becoming extremely predictable, especially with personnel in the game at the same time.

Brees isn’t even looking to see if the play is there. He just forces it which is why he’s thrown these horrible INts.
Congrats to Drew on another stupid throw completely shifting a game. :casty:
Unless you get pressure on Winston, he is a pretty damn good QB. Why not blitz on 3rd and long there? Typical Allen
Cowboys ran the Legion of Boom defense as others mentioned. They grabbed and held, made continuous illegal contact and forced the refs to either cal it early or if they let it go keep doing it since the precedent had been set that it wasn’t going to be called.

They got away with bloody murder and it’s a reason the NFL and NBA have become sucky at points. The officials allow teams to dictTe the way a game is called instead of actually calling the game by the rules.

It’s why I hated the Seahawks so much. They were overrated and just found a way to beat the system not by being better but gaming the system.

Bama does this a lot which is why I laugh when their fans try to defend the reffing by claiming their opponents get called in less penalties. No shite, it’s to Bama’s advantage to force the game to be called that way. They are usually more physical, coach cheap tricks to get away with holds and do it every game.

You can’t blame the coaches because it worked. The cowboys also didn’t have to travel for two straight weeks and despite having a week from the previous Thursday game, the teams both still were dealing with depletion from so many games I a compressed time frame.

I don’t think you can take anything from the Cowboys game to be meaningful. They are a good team by did not solve the Saints offense.
Tua benefited from never really having pressure on him at all in any games. His team as a whole was better on both sides of the ball than anyone they faced.

Murray had more pressure on him basically every game, because of OU's swiss cheese defense. That makes a major difference.

Tua also has much better skill players to work with overall since Bama stayed ridiculously healthy.

Name one position on offense where OU is better than Bama talent-wise. OU lost its top running back in the first week or two of the season. Bama had almost no injuries all season.

Murray deserves it more.
quote:

Apparently you can't read. The injury to his right ankle late in the 3rd Qtr is why he came out but the surgery was to his left ankle. That's the one with the high ankle sprain. He played most of the game with that injury.

So then his poor play up until that point had nothing to do with an injury right?
Probably Murray. He showed up every game and his team never lost or nearly lost because of him.

Prior to the SEC CG, I'd have said Tua, but he got exposed that game and nearly cost Bama an SEC Title.

re: What do you think about Joe Burrow?

He's a slightly above average QB with decent accuracy when he's not pressured.

Has poor pocket presence, but it is a tough player.

Not the Godsend some LSU fans wanted to make him, but he's a decent QB.

re: Idea that Orgeron is owed a raise

What people are forgetting is that O is overpaid as it is. The fact he was given $3.5 Million/year AND a $12 Million buyout was absurd. Given what he's been afforded salary wise and allowed to pay his buddies and assistants, O in no way deserves a raise. He's already over compensated.

People keep saying that the preseason predictions were outperformed yet ignore that outside of the UGA game, LSU didn’t exceed any expectation and in fact did match what they should have. Auburn and Miami were way worse than expected. 10-2 at worst and being competitive with Alabama should’ve been the expectation but instead they go 9-3, get embarrassed with the worst loss to Bama in 16 years. Just because you beat UGA doesn’t erase the fact that you lost 3 games.

In the end, what O and his supporters did was lower the bar immediately once it was obvious he was in over his head. That is not how championship programs are run and exactly why Millenials are so entitled. The bar is lowered to make them winners and the same is being done for O.

He can get a no raise extension with no buyout added and like it, and the only reason for that is to at least fake the idea of stability.

No matter what some want to try and believe, Bowl games are called exhibitions for a reason. Be sure some fans and media use them to try and judge a season or use a spring board for the next season, in reality they are meaningless on the big picture.

You may not like his decision and that is your right, but I don’t blame the kid. Bowl games don’t really help most players and while it’s a memory they can gain, the risk is not worth it, especially at certain positions.

Good luck to the kid.

After a bowl win, LSU will be preseason top 5. Getting a raise and extension.

LSU will not be top 5 going into next season. They are losing significant pieces and unless they make a splash hire and change several coaches, the following teams will be ahead of them:

Bama
Clemson
Texas
Georgia
Notre Dame
Florida
Oklahoma
Michigan

LSU’s defense will take a step back next season. Players like Greedy and White are not going to get fully replaced. LSU could lose a few on the DL, Tracy is gone, and LSU will be running the same offense.

LSU will likely be top 10 of top 15 team but as of now, other teams are going to improve next season too in Florida and A&M. Texas will be a hard game especially in Austin and LSU could easily be 8-4 next year without many true upsets.
They are SC guys or O guys. He loves em. He didn’t hire Raymond and so I doubt he feels any loyalty to him. I truly hope Raymond doesn’t leave but he deserves better and guy needs to do what’s in his best interest. If he’s not getting loyalty and respect from his own alma mater that he deserves, I hope he gets it somewhere.

He’s replaceable but not for cheap or without investing a decent pick in the draft, even our second.

He definitely works well in the offense and brings a good bit to the table, but is easier to replace than a Kamara. Some pretty damn good backs in this year’s draft and maybe worth it if they can save us some money going into free agency this spring.

That said, it he comes back on a reasonable deal, it would be a great boost to the team’s future.
