The refs were getting nervous that their jig was up so reinforcements had to step in to help them out.
It’s because Saban doesn’t give a damn about people beyond their ability to serve his needs. That’s why he had no problem putting Jeudy back out there. That’s why he has no problem forcing kids to take medical redshirts to make room for better players. That’s why he has no problem talking to reporters like they’re living, breathing pieces of sh!t for simply asking a question he doesn’t want to answer. That’s why every single years numerous coaches give up money and championships just to get away from him by taking jobs elsewhere.

Given his approach to the world and the people in it is anyone really surprised he let Jeudy go back out there??

When you intercept three passes on the road against No. 3 Georgia recognition is bound to come. It came quick for South Carolina sophomore corner Israel Mukuamu. The defensive star for the Gamecocks in Athens was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, joining Oklahoma wide receiver Cee Dee Lamb, who was player of the week on offense.

Mukuamu registered three interceptions in the 20-17 double-overtime win, a 53-yard pick-six late in the second quarter, a third down interception in the fourth quarter and then a secured a deflected pass to end Georgia's first possession in overtime. He became the first Gamecock to intercept three passes since Patrick Hinton did it in a 23-7 win at N.C. State on Oct. 29, 1988. He also had 11 tackles in the game, one for a loss.
Not a gif but here’s a quick clip.
Longest Hold in History

Just lol at “well the reigning national defensive player of the week seemed content to just run beside the players and not make a TD saving tackle” explanation. I guess a missed call that bad deserves an equally bad explanation.

It seems to me that it is always the underdog whining about the refs. There are only two explanations for that. 1. Refs favor the favorites (which is bs) or 2. Whining about refs is little bro behavior.

Really, because I see bad calls every week. I also see fans booing officiating every single week. A lot of that is just fans being mad, and yeah, sometimes good calls get booed. Still, people complain about bad calls all the time. If you sit with a group of people and watch college football for an entire day you can almost be certain that people will comment on bad calls. Obviously there’s a correlation between how bad the call is, how much it affects the game, and how vocal people will be about complaining.

Things we can criticize:

- playcalling
- coaches
- uniforms
- timeslots
- selection of Gameday site
- athletic directors
- commentators

Things we can’t criticize:

- horrible officials who directly affect the game by not doing their job properly

Does that make any sense to you??

Wouldn’t it have looked better for Bama if SC had won yesterday?? And I don’t see why they would have a particular interest in putting their reputation on the line so blatantly to get UF to win. I think for the most part they’re just incompetent and safe from criticism, which is horrible combination. I say pay them more and make them available to reporters after games. Not saying SC would’ve won yesterday because we did shoot ourselves in the foot in the red zone at least once, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a game in which 14 points were directly the result of two calls that were that obvious yet missed. You can 100% without a doubt take 14 points away from UF with just reasonably competent officials. Again, not saying we would’ve won, but call back that 75 yard TD run to 10 yards past the marker where the longest hold in college football history began and it changes the dynamics a lot.

Nothing. They fricked up, owned it, and apologized for it. I don't think it was intentional, just clueless and a demonstration of how little journalists actually understand about the subject they're writing about. I mean anyone who even did a cursory check on Hilinski's background would know not to run that headline

Agreed. If we’re going to get outraged every time so journalist uses poor word choice we’ll be in for stressful lives. That paper had a sports reporter for years and years whose only job seemed to be to troll SC football. It got so bad that Spurrier had to ban him from press conferences. I think that says a lot more about the paper than one guy making a sh!tty headline.
I’m going with this. Yeah it looks bad but to hear some of the people around here tell the story, the guy should be hung at high noon. I think people are just way too sensitive these days. Again, it looks bad....but beyond apologizing I don’t know what else needs to happen.

They pay him 7 million/year so he gets a million for every game he wins.

Muschamp makes 3.2 million/year and probably won’t win three games this year, so as a Gamecock fan not much I can say since they got a better deal than us.
^^

I didn’t say there are no fanbases which should be enjoying this season more. I said that overall the college football landscape has been incredibly bleh for the first quarter of this season. Try to keep up.

Yeah, last season.

Last season seemed much better as far as I remember. This year the games aren’t even close and pretty much no one has been upset so far.

I guess what I’m reading is:

1.) we all agree that this is most boring 3 weeks of college football in recent memory

2.) we all hope/assume that it’ll get better

3.) how much better remains to be seen
I’m kind of curious as to whether it’s just me(in part due to being a SC can) or if this season has been exceptionally boring so far. I mean, we’re 1/4 of the way through the season and I seem to remember at least a few years in which opening weekend alone had more excitement than we’ve seen in all three weeks of this season combined. Not a lot of top notch matchups. No big upsets that do anything at all to the college football landscape. I mean, sure there have been a few upsets and it has been funny, but nothing that really changes what we expect out of the rest of the season or impacts any roads to championships. It seems like the only close games have been between mediocre teams(except maybe LSU/texas)...even Auburn/Oregon probably didn’t display top-notch teams.

I always try to avoid over-reacting and wait to see the entire season unfold before judging it, but it will have to get a lot better going forward to even be decent based on what we’ve seen so far. There may be a handful of games that I’m genuinely excited about outside of SC’s games, whereas in the past I remember being excited about multiple matchups almost every week. So is it just me or is anyone else in a similar boat this year??

re: Missouri opens -10 against SC....

I like our chances but won’t be surprised if Mizzou wins. I don’t put much stock into week one games so both us and Mizzou gets a pass. Hilinski looks good but it will be the first road start of his college career, and you never how players will handle that. One thing that will help with that is our running game, which we will desperately need to let our D rest and control the clock. I’m assuming the spread is based on our defensive performances in week one and week three. That being said, Bama puts up that many points on pretty much everyone so I don’t feel too bad about that. Still, if we play like that against Mizzou there’s a good chance we walk out 1-3. I haven’t had a chance to watch any Mizzou games this year so I don’t really know what to expect. But if history is any indication it’ll probably be a pretty weird game.

Are you aware there were hundreds of Alabama fans treated for heat related problems Saturday and that a man died? So many mouth off and troll trying to be cute here before they even try to get the facts. This site has become almost pathetic with immature comments that have no value. Some ribbing is fun but the intelligence quotient is severely lacking in many of you.

People sit in the heat every Sat. I sat in the sun with an almost triple digit heat index last Sat. for 4 quarters to watch SC play an FCS opponent. Are you saying there should be no noon games?? If not how about no 3:30 games? It’s hotter at 3:30 than it is at noon. If that’s not what Bama is saying then I’m correct that they’re just whining because they don’t like the time slot they were put in.
quote:

are you not crying over someone else supposedly crying??

Crying?? No...I’m actually laughing. Truth be told though it is kind of sad. Imagine being that successful yet going through life miserable and crying like a bitch about how unfair everything is.
Looking back I guess we should’ve seen it coming, but I always just assumed his misery and douchebaggery were self-contained. After 10+ years of crying about everything from reporter questions to scholarship rules to transfer rules to HUNH offenses to conference scheduling to postseason formats to fan attendance to not having enough oatmeal creme pies in the vending machines....his mindset has officially infected the rest of the dept. Just lmao at putting together a sh!t-tier schedule then crying when the broadcasters put in the noon slot. That kind of gripe has “Saban” written all over it. So that leaves two possibilities....either Saban complained about it in private but made the AD spread the word, or the AD is turning into a crybaby himself. Which do you think it is??
Imagine waking up in the morning, looking at yourself in the mirror, and saying to yourself “trolling an SEC message board is about the best I can hope for today”.

It almost makes ME depressed for him.
ITT- people are honestly saying there’s a scenario where the reigning national champ could go into selection Sunday with a record of 28-0 in less than 2 full seasons but should be left out of the playoffs. I mean... I hate clemson more than most here probably but there’s a point where you have to rely on common sense over emotion.
