Why do they exist? Why don’t they just have NCAA officials?

That wouldn't change anything. Mark Emmert is a Bama pawn.

It would for those of us who don’t play Bama every year and have to deal with the incompetence over/and the favoritism.

Real talk, it would be overseen by the NCAA, but the crews would still be regional and would still be under pressure to protect bammer.

Step 1: Pay them better.

Step 2: Fine them for bad calls.

AKA, pay them based on performance.

They are an insurance policy. They are protecting teams that the SEC needs to win. You see their presence in critical plays on both sides of the ball. PI on third down or holding on red zone plays. The thumb is on the scale and it doesn’t have to be too obvious to control a game.

You still would have awful calls but what I think it would do would take out some of the tendency or perception that there is a conference bias towards one team.

Then the inbreds would never win a championship.

The problem is that officiating doesn’t have to answer to anyone and they have their gay little retired butter bean “rules expert” come on national television to back his buddies up

Literally zero accountability. So why even be worried?

Refs need to be full time employees that actually have to continue to get training year round and evaluations.

People seem to forget that a lot of refs are part timers with other jobs. They get a few weeks of training before the season.

The whole system needs an overhaul. Right now we are seeing a lot of experience referees have retired and turned to booth work and we have a lot less talent out there.

Granted the SEC has had horrible refs for as long as I can recall. And not just the "Bama favoritism" but just being terrible as a whole.

Yeah TV needs to do away with the rules expert. I can see if there is a rules question having one but bringing in a guy that got to old to call a game to back up his buddies on judgement calls is a little ridiculous.

Then LSU would never win a championship, it is not like they are burning up the woods winning them now.

I think I've had my fill of the ref talk this year. I find it so cucky err unbecoming of a man to believe that your team is either good or bad because of a ref or group of refs or insert some other weird conspiracy shite.

Maybe they back them up because the refs make far more correct calls than they don't?

My next door neighbor where I use to live was an ACC official. Good guy he got out of it when he got a little age to him. He was a good official as well. Was the white hat in one of the BCS title games. We talked a lot and what I learned was you can’t make a living calling college football. The pay was kind of embarrassing. It’s probably gone up some but still probably not enough. They have a fitness test they have to pass and they do have to go on and have to have continuous training each year.

Yeah a 45 yard hold had zero impact on the play according to Fatt Austin

Referees shouldn’t be allowed to call games in the state they live in. Would that help any?
