Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke with reporters this week and was asked about the interest he received from NFL teams after the Longhorns recent playoff run.

Sarkisian explained he never considered leaving Texas and shared his commitment to the program. Per On3:
quote:

“I didn’t come here to put on a hat to say I’m a head coach again,” Sarkisian said. “It was a long journey to get back to this seat. But I came here — I was very clear in my opening press conference and I’ve been very clear along the way — to win championships. We’ve got a lot of unfinished business. I wasn’t entertaining anything that was beyond making sure I had a really good job here and I could solidify the job here and I could hire the best people I could here and I could recruit the best players I could here to go try to do that. I’m proud of the work we’ve done.”

“The mission is not complete,” Sarkisian said. “I didn’t ever want to be a program that was a one-hit wonder that was able to do it one year and then fall off. I think we’ve built this thing in a way where we’re consistently growing… We’re not done yet. We’ve got plenty of work to do. Looking forward to the opportunities as they come to us in the near future.”

A LOT of college coaches are gonna make the jump in the next couple years just because of the climate in college football now.

Nah. I think he'll stick around until he wins one.. Who knows after that?

Being a college football head coach has always been a great job, but man, the stress of it has to be incredible at this point. All coaches seem like they literally go go go for damn near 365 days a year.. I wouldn't blame any coach for jumping at this point, the quality of life in the NFL has to be better..

Then again, maybe with some rule changes and a few tweaks, it won't be as brutal as what it has become.

He'll never win one. He had his one chance, his golden opportunity with the lame 2024 SEC schedule. It only gets harder.
