According to lostlettermen.com, an anonymous NBA scout ripped Kentucky’s basketball system saying that it has flaws and makes players look better than they actually are...
quote:

The scout told VaughtsViews.com for example, that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – a candidate for the No. 2 overall selection in this month’s draft – isn’t as good a defensive player as many believe because he had Anthony Davis as a security blanket behind him. He also said the Marquis Teague benefited from the “threat of the lob,” which made him out to look like a more talented floor general.

This one scout believes...“In reality, the Kentucky system is smoke and mirrors. I remember being out in Vegas for a Summer League and I was sitting and watching games with a long-time director of scouting in the league. He said he was stunned at how unprepared Kentucky players were for the NBA, and he had drafted one of them.”
I see what this guy is saying, but how can any of these one and done UK players develop after only one year of college ball?

Wait! So, Calipari's making his players look better than they actually are, thus making them more money after they're drafted high in the draft? What an a-hole!!!

Calipari's job is not to evaluate talent for the NBA. His job is a assemble a COLLEGE basketball team that can win championships. He is becoming very successful at this. I don't get the Kentucky hate. He is following the rules and winning. If you don't like what he is doing, then change the rules.

I'd love to see a 3 year stint in college for every player, but I doubt it would happen.

so dumb
His job is to win championships and get his players drafted highly (as he promises them in recruiting. He does both of these things.

How do you win a National Championship with smoke and mirrors? Those guys were making plays all over the court last year and played their hearts out. It's not the players fault that they have to play for free one year.

what a load of crap! the nba takes kids out of high school and kids who have one whole year of college under their belt.

that's what's wrong with basketball. its not about developing basketball skills - it's about acquiring kids with amazing athletic ability and turning them loose to jump and dunk. the NBA is a form of professional wrestling! superb athletes in great condition who can run and jump.

Rules of the game? fahgetaboutit! take a 3 or 4 step walk to the basket and mug the other players while playing defense. double-dribble? that went out years ago.

What an idiot! Since when did any college program become the dedicated proving ground for the NBA. The other bucket of crap here is that the reason these young kids are going early is that NBA scouts are giving them evaluations that tell them they are at certain draft level.
