The Big 10 and Big 12 are free to play 8 conference games if they wish. Maybe the Big 10 should have not murdered the Pac 12 and then they'd have had 3 power conferences to push the ACC and SEC harder into adding a 9th conference game but instead they let the TV execs blind them w/promises of more $$$.
