CBS announcer Gary Danielson loves him some SEC. He believes a 1-loss SEC team should be in the national title game over an undefeated Notre Dame or Kansas State.
quote:

My personal tiebreaker is that a conference championship game has to stand for something. I would penalize Notre Dame for not playing in a conference championship. So after Alabama, my first nod would be to Oregon, since its conference has earned respect, then Kansas State and only then Notre Dame…

You’d have to put (a once-beaten Alabama team) in the discussion, because they’ve earned it given what the conference has accomplished.”

Hard to argue with him really. ND's schedule this year is no cake walk, but I think people are little underwhelmed at how some of their opponents have panned out throughout the season.

Except that Alabama doe not play Georgia, South Carolina, or Fla and they don't play them in 2013 either. So, a 1-loss Alabama should not be in top 10.

CalTiger, Bama will play one of those 3 mentioned teams in the SEC championship game.

Yes...only ONE of those teams and it took the SEC championship game to make that happen.

Conference championship didn't mean that much last year so why should it mean jack crap this year? LSU was undefeated and won the SEC yet had to play Bama again?

No, regular season and championship means nothing. Just a cute ring and a banner. Media money is involved now.
