After Auburn's 1-6 and 0-5 in the SEC start people are calling for coach Gene Chizik's head. Things look even worse with three out of four remaining games against Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama. Thursday Auburn President Jay Gogue made a statement...
quote:

In the past few weeks, many of you have contacted me, and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share your thoughts about the football program. I know your concerns are sincere and heartfelt, and I share many of them. As we do every year, the football program will be evaluated in an objective, thorough and professional process.

For everything there is a time, and now is the time to support. The young men and women – our students – who make up Auburn University are grateful for the dedication of their extended Auburn Family. So am I.
He gone.

Gouge or Jacobs has little say in the matter, they are figureheads, it'll be Good 'Ol pantless Pat Dye and Yellerwood making the decision when they fire him & hire Petrino

Also ANYONE who thinks AU's 14-0 season had ANYTHING to do with Gene Chizik is not paying attention

you go 14 and 0 and win the National Championship in 2010 and then 2013 you get fired, man coaching football is like walking the high wire without a net. Will Muschamp might have been the key to that success and without him the tigers are declawed.

To be honest…President Gouge did not even address Gene Chizik (or Athletic Director Jay Jacobs) and his "status" with his statement….all he really stated was his desire to support the student athletes….and by him doing that, I agree with you…”He Gone”
