South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer spoke with reporters after last week's 27-3 loss to Ole Miss and discussed all of the Rebels in-game injuries.

Saturday's game had to be stopped 11 times for Ole Miss player injuries, including four times for the same player. Here's what Beamer had to say. Per SDS:
quote:

“It’s fascinating to me how many injuries occur for them after the opposing offense makes a first down or has a big play,” Beamer said. “You go back and watch the Wake Forest game, it happens a lot. You watch the Kentucky game, it happens a lot.

“… They had a big injury report (last) week and I’m sure it’ll be another big one this week as well. We’ll look at it. There’s not much the officials can do during the game, but certainly it’s a thing that we’ll discuss with the people above us. I’ve got my own problems on our own team right now, but the timing of some of the injuries, it’s a really bad look for college football and it’s not what this game’s about.”

I miss college football from the early 2000's. Not saying this didn't happen then on occasion but this seems to be a happening on the reg the last few years.

If they pause play for the same player twice, he's too injured to continue. Put him in the injury protocol and take his helmet.

They don't want to discourage players who think they may be hurt from getting looked at in the name of player safety, but the alternative is getting pretty bad. Some rule definitely needs to be made though. I think maybe simply increasing the amount of plays a player must sit if an injury timeout gets called from 1 to 2 or maybe even 3 would be a start. If they are injured that gives enough time that the training staff will really look at the player and if not then they won't be able to go right back in anymore.
